Not to mention that they went with uninteresting regions afterward.
New York, San Diego, Hawaii, Texas, they'd all be interesting for regions, but GameFreak just makes circles now.
Very disappointing and uninteresting.

There was a part of Shikoku in Johto.

I too would like to see what the rest might be like, maybe expand it futher north too so that the map centers on the Seto Inland Sea.

I want to see New Zealand. A North version and a South version, one starting at the top of the North Island and the other stating at the bottom of the South Island, with the league in Wellington.

The other game's island serves as the postgame area with their own set of gyms.

I'm disappointed that they didn't finish off with Japan. One gen for Touhoku (although that one is pretty boring looking) and one for Chuugoku plus west Shikoku and they'd be done.
I guess they weren't too eager to connect older regions again.

Specially for the former. Unless northern Chuubu were those Ranger regions, they'd need to connect the Touhoku game to both Kanto and Johto.

Dive was great. The huge expanse of water with constant encounters was the problem.

It was kind of cool having an entire ocean to explore instead of following set route paths.

Well, I m Greek and I live in Greece my whole life. After seeing Unova and Kalos being based on non-japanese places I thought for a moment: why not Greece? Unfortunately, since game freak does research before deciding the country on which a region will be based, Greece doesn't have anything worthy enough. It s not even close to how you guys imagine Greece is. Italy or Nordic countries would be waaaaay better.

It's just about giving more importance to the neat places.

Although I guess it's easier to make that with more diverse countries. It's just so damn easy to work around Italy's landmarks, although a bit risky with the western fanbase, they wouldn't be able to understand why there's no mention of Giovanni or Team Rocket in the southern zone.

I've met Japanese families who lived in Japan their whole lives who couldn't accurately guess whether or not my friend was of Japanese, Chinese, or Korean descent (A: Chinese). There may very well be a Corean character who just looks like everyone else.
