Mareep is yhe sheep, Lillipup (like Growlithe) acts like a guard dog and Riolu as wolf, also fan service, early game Lucario. I'd personally used a Poochyena or Zorua as hunting Pokémon to put as counterpart for Lillilup, at least the type math up would have been fair.
