Marina is Japanese version of Kris. Anime just forgot (or didn't wanted) to translated this name, but outside of Raikou Legend of Thudner in the regular Johto episode she was known as I think Dani.
For Red, Green, Gold and Silver they used second name suggested by game. Red became Ash, Green was Gary, Gold became Kenta (which was translated as Jimym in anime and Hiro in games) and SIlver became Kamon (althought only Japanese name of him existed). For other characters they picked first name suggested by game, since it was not a colour name anymore.
While Crys/Chris/Kris technically only have a colour name in English version, Japs prefer to use tag which google translate translates as "Chris" over Marina. Chris is a shortened version of Crystal as it was said in special and golden boys.
