I think we've had a few of these threads before. The Mega Evolutions are lacking in lore, so post your headcanons here. Upon Mega Evolving into Mega Mewtwo X, Mewtwo's physical strength increases greatly. While its psionic capabilities haven't improved, it can now tap into its vast intelligence to deliver its physical blows with perfectly calculated strength and precision, drawing from (and building on) its knowledge of various human martial arts. Mega Mewtwo Y isn't a lame speed form for a shitty female Mewtwo, but rather the form that Mewtwo attains after the Mewtwonite Y converts most of its mass than brainpower. Its intelligence and psionic capabilities have increased greatly due to its enormous head, but this sudden enlarging of its cranium has also made it mentally unstable. Mewtwo has now reverted to a childlike mentality, unable to experience any emotions other than the constant rage and pain it felt as it was growing up in Dr. Fuji's lab, and is far more vicious and unstable in this form, constantly throwing what can be best described as superpowered tantrums, often allowing its anger to overcome its sense of reasoning.

>>18898518 I remember reading a headcanon where MMX is meant to look more like a true evolution, a successor to Mewtwo, while MMY is meant to go backwards and resemble Mew, who Mewtwo is based off of.

A pokemon's mega evo is what that pokemon would look like if it was given immortality like AZ's Floette. The Lati@s mega stones were made from Soul Dews so when they mega evolve they temporarily absorb the soul of their dead twin which is why their colors mix and become purple.

>Mega Mewtwo X symbolizes Mewtwo giving in to its famed "savage heart"; the burden of knowing its origins as a creation of man was too much to bear and Mewtwo was unable to find its place in the world. Forever lost, its rage has overtaken it and so its body has become dedicated to powerful attacks, both mental and physical, to lash out at the world in revenge. It's an unnatural evolution, but arguably Giovanni's ideal end goal for the Pokémon he created. >By contrast, Mega Mewtwo Y is a Mewtwo that learned to open its mind and open its heart; in doing so its form resembles its progenitor Mew. With its issues more or less solved it is free to do as it pleases and appreciates the world and the nature within it; its power exists only to protect that world and others like itself.

I'm more upset that Colress wasn't even mentioned in XY. His whole spiel was tapping into the ultimate hidden strengths of a Pokemon, and isn't referenced at all when there's a new item that seems to allow just that.

Mega evolution is being studied now, since it's new. Eventually it's learned that mega evolution is extremely unhealthy for pokemon in the long term, so it's eventually banned.

Mega Charizard X is what Charizard used to be like in ancient times - a dragon. It's just reverting back to its old state. Mega Charizard Y is the next step in evolution of the current Charizard that we all know. Really wish it became faster in-game though since it looks slimmer and those wings.

Trainers can only mega evolve one pokemon at a time because mega evolving uses some of the trainer's own energy. If they tried to do it more than once they would die.

There once was a herd of Ampharos. These Ampharos worshiped Zekrom, the strongest electric type. Zekrom was amused by this and created the first Ampharosite, so they may be more like their god. All mega stones are gifts from the legendaries.
