the example i brought has many outcomes for metronome to turn out usefull. but even if it's only 3/656, sometimes you will discover that you have on your team of 6 pokemon with 4 moves each that non of them has any of those 3 moves that could have been usefull in your current situation.
slim chance is better than no chance.
so, here are the cases i have brought
1. there are plenty of usefull moves, but your current pokemon just does not have one of them.
2. you can't switch or none of the pokemon on your team knows a good countering move
there is also
3. randomness, to distrupt the flow of battle and create an opening in your oponent startegy.
tough, this is not for people who don't like fighting on luck.
at any rate, metronome is NOT for spamming. it's a support move, to be used when the need arises.
