I really like having pokemon that are non-legendary, but powerful in the pokemon universe, regardless of whether or not they're actually any good in the games.
Golduck's one of my favorite Pokemon as far as looks and (anime) capabilities go. It's a shame Golduck's no good in the games. Wish they'd give him a psychic dual-type, at least.
