>>18919472Charizard is one of the most iconic pokemon, and it's been around from the start. A little pandering is fine as long as they don't go too far. 2 Megas was kinda BS, but at least you can beat the game without getting them rubbed in your face repeatedly.
Lucario was a nice mascot for gen 4. Ignoring the furries he was just a slightly edgy fighting type. The problems with Lucario are:
We got him over a good gen 6 mascot. We could have hyped Malamar or Greninja, at least they're new.
Getting forced to using it to show off megas. We already got Gen 1 starters with mega stones, they could have used them instead.
We already have a newer mascot, in the form of Zoroark, why did they just ignore it?
