Even though they were still rough around the edges, and needed some improvement... and the sprites were extremely different from how the Pokemon actually looked...
It's still one of my beloved games.
I still remember my old Red version.

Nostalgia tends to flavor memories, making things always appear much better than they do now.
I wish that I could play my old Red version, but the save issue has made it nearly impossible outside of speedruns without saves.
