I love Druddigon but that just isn't fair
I guess Druddigon doesn't have a 4x weakness, is a bit bulkier, and gets priority, but Hydreigon has better stats overall and gets way better coverage.

Well here in my Honest Opinion, you wouldn't want Either Dragon Type. Hydreigon has better overall stats, but doesn't help against the new fairies by getting a 4x hit from them. I would go with that other person's Suggestion and get a Haxorus, or even possibly a Garchomp. In any case, it boils down to Personal Opinion.

Because Dark is a bad second type for a Dragon and Druddigon is literally the worst dragon, having the lowest BST among them and only being good for physical attacking, where he's outclassed by literally every other physically-based Dragon who are also better rounded.

Hydreigon is banned from UU, even in the age of fairies. So it's got that going for it.

Druddigon is absolute shit, only use it if you've lost a bet.

The best Dragon-type for PvP is Palkia if you're allowing Ubers, Mega Charizard X if you're willing to dedicate a Mega slot, or Garchomp if you're just seeking a standalone. Note that Hydreigon is viable in OU if you're not a retard hint: keep it away from Fairies, just like you keep Tyranitar away from punches, while Druddigon is, again, only to be used if you've lost a bet.

But it's not. It was meh in Gen V and now it's a liability. You're getting three weaknesses for STAB Dark Pulse and immunity to Psychic in a tier with practically no Monotype Psychic pokemon, not that it matters since coverage is the one upside to being psychic.

I'm not saying that's enough to make Hydreigon BAD, but it is enough to make other dragons better than him.

Reminder that Bisharp and Aegislash are S-ranked in OU. Dark stopped being such a bad type when not paired with pure shit types with the Steel nerf and the Knock Off buff.

2: Bisharp resists both of Hydreigon's STABS and still hits neutrally with Steel (You can Focus Blast him but his Dark typing is irrelevant there)
3: Hydreigon's Dark Pulse doesn't OHKO Shield Aegislash, since Hydreigon outspeeds all they have to do is Sacred Sword and then Shadow Sneak. It's possible to survive a low roll but he'd still be better off with no Dark typing by using Fire Blast/Flamethrower

The best Aegislash variants run maximum Special Attack to pump up Shadow Ball. The standard Crumbler set doesn't even have a chance to 2HKO with Sacred Sword + Shadow Sneak without putting itself in OHKO range from Specs Dark Pulse, though Scarf and Orb sets will still win over 90% of the time. Showdown!'s damage calc shows the numbers for the SD set because that's what all the scrubs use; those are not the reason why Aegislash is S-rank.

Honestly, Hydreigon's typing doesn't hold it back nearly as much as its awkward stat distribution and inability to boost. If it could just trade its Attack and Speed stats and maybe even pick up Nasty Plot from somewhere...

Hydreigon if you want a special sweeper, Druddigon if you want a defensive mon (Rocky Helmet + Rough Skin) or bulky offense (Sheer Force + Life Orb). Only problem is that it doesn't get Dragon Rush, which is the only physical Dragon Move that benefits from Sheer Force.

In any case two things apply against both of those opponents:
The Dark typing is either inconsequential because the opponents have coverage on their standard sets and are both weak to Hydreigon's standard Fire moves anyway

And EQ Dragonite is better against them anyway.

You missed the part where I said Hydreigon isn't bad. We're only arguing whether Dark typing helps him at all, and last time I checked Fire and Ground moves don't have much to do with his Dark typing.
