Where almost everyone got Knock Off and how physically frail Psychic types are generally, it's no surprise.
Bu I wouldn't label it as THAT bad, Ice is still much worse than it generally as almost every team got a way to knock it over and fuck it dry without lube.
Not the mention sneaky pebbles.

Lots of Water and Normal mons learn Ice moves.
Only ice type used nowadays is Mamo and it has Thick Fat.

Ice pokemon need more resists.

I thought psychic sucked before anyone made a thread on smogon that I'd heard about. Face it, gen one is over. It's a liability to be psychic now, especially since they're all frail special attackers/defenders and they're weak to two extremely common attack types. It's even reserved to a niche attack type with its only good uses being super-effectiveness towards poison and psyshock for coverage.

Electric, Fairy, Poison, Water, and Ghost need more weaknesses, because these types all have either one or two weaknesses; they should all have 3 weaknesses. Weaker types like Ice, Psychic, and Grass should gain resists and be Super Effective against them.

Yeah but good grass types have the bonus of being often paired with beautiful types that usually negate their weaknesses
This rarely happens with psychic types or ice types which get even MORE weaknesses

Ice types are garbage defensively, yes. However, I believe they are looking at both offensive and defensive aspects of the type. Ice attacks are seen a ton on other types. Psychic might be the only attack type that I've never heard of running as a coverage move. A lot of types who have it as a second type won't use it.

Overall, I would say worst overall is Psychic, Grass, and Ice in that order.

Fairy/psychic is almost an entire overhaul, weak to steel/poison/ghost. Ok typing to be honest, lets fairy hit poison hard. Why didn't they make it steel no longer resists psychic instead of ghost. Why

Psychic/dark is actually pretty good. The best case scenario for psychic. All it has to do is be fast enough to not be u-turn bait....Oh wait, the only psychic/dark type is slow as shit. Nevermind.

Fairy outclasses Psychic in every single way. There is not a single Psychic Pokemon in existance that wouldnt benefit from changing it's type to Fairy.

A lot of talk about Ice's nice offensive Typing but not much mention of the fact that Ice types are slow as fuck which is a death sentence when you have as many weaknesses as they do.

It's kind of pathetic that the strongest offensive Ice type is Greninja, which isn't even an Ice Pokemon most of the time.

Some things do run Extrasensory, Psyshock or Psychic as coverage moves (I think Typhlosion sometimes runs Extrasensory for instance), but it's only when there's really nothing else you can use.

Don't know you guys, but I run Psyshock in my Sylveon and don't regret a little (even having a stronger move in Moonblast / Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice) no matter how redundant the coverage is. Try to muscle past the three fat blobs without it (counting M-Venu as one, shit that thing is tanky as hell)

Metagross is eh. Not very good
Xatu is outclassed in every way by Espeon. There is no reason to run it over Espeon in OU, which brings me to the fact that Espeon is also a good psychic type.
Wobbuffet got hit really hard by the nerf to Shadow Tag. It's not as good of a revenge killer as it was last time.

the sp split that made some ghost moves special and some dark moves physical realy helped it

in 2nd gen, you couldn't mirror ghost moves and counter didn't affect ghots, and you couldn't counter dark moves and mirror didn't affect dark.

This is objectively true, actually.

Which is why I hope for a Fairy/Fighting Gallade retype - for no amount of crafty tampering with part psychic typing is worth the effort, IMO.

The only things that care about Steel no longer resisting Dark and Ghost are Metagross, Bronzong and Jirachi. For everything else, the prospect of dealing neutral damage to a type with generally high defenses is still rather shitty. Nobody runs Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball to deal with Steel types in particular.
