I remember being worried about this when playing Gen6, except feeling that with a new type the previous games will feel obsolete or not as finished, but after being disappointed with Gen6 and the Fairy type matchups I could honestly go into Gen7 without it.

tl;dr phys/spec split from gen4 feels definitive, Fairy type doesn't feel so imperative.
