It gets worse; Paras is a docile insect that would rather flee than fight, while Parasect is an aggressive and dangerous pokemon that will attack anything in the vicinity. Not only that, but the mushroom has strength the insect could not hope to achieve alone.

In Paras's mind there's a struggle between the gentle, scared bug, and the monster that is the fungus. And it's a fight that it will lose, because you want power.
