Why do you dislike IVs, /vp/?

I'm really glad pokemon have variety in stats and every Nidoran doesn't have carbon-copy stats slightly varied by natures.

I agree. Only Nidoran should have IVs. Everything else should - actually. Let's remove all the Pokemon except Nidoran.

Because fuck breeding for Hidden Power.
Gamefreak made it really easy to get and check for max IVs, but anything less than perfect requires much more work than necessary.

Either that, or give more Pokemon better coverage.

Yeah, I don't give a flying fuck if two wild Nidoran I find have slightly different stats because of IVs. It's not worth making breeding less fun. Natures, genders, abilities, and the 700+ fucking species should be enough to individualize them.

There's more to the game than just competitive battling and breeding for perfect stats.
I don't think anybody on here appreciates flavour.

Because there are already plenty of ways to differ pokemon from one another. Level, gender, nickname, nature, abilties, EVs, movesets, items, and more. Making a pokemon less viable in battle, and making it incredibly difficult to get the best stats just so you can have your special snowflake is dumb

(that said breeding is acceptably easier now so whatevs)

It's an addition that makes the game worse for those who battle competitively.
There is already enough to make a Pokemon different during the main game, so there's no need to worry about unchangeable stats.

I don't see how numbers on my Pokemon's summary screen being slightly higher or lower "adds flavor." When I was a kid playing these games I didn't even know IVs existed. Nothing of value would be lost if they were gone.

It's only easier if you're getting a gendered Pokemon for all max stats, anything else is still a pain.

lol like anyone runs anything less than 31 in any stat on any pokemon except in attack on pure special attackers to reduce confusion damage or speed for trick room teams or a few other niche purposes.
