Lt. Surge offhandedly mentions that he was in a war, but that's all we ever got, so I came up with my own little headcanon around this.

First and foremost, the majority of the fighting would have occurred in Kanto, in the less urban areas, that are mostly inaccessible In-Game. This, as many people have previously said, is the reason Kanto is so run down and lacking in adult men.

Here's where things go full headcanon. Lt. Surge, now retconned as a Unovan, would suggest that PokéMurika would have been involved in this war. Now I dont at all think Unova would have seen any combat, but Orre might not be out of the question. Half the amount of towns as the average region, with much of the region being a wasteland, and a few of the towns being run-down shanty's would suggest that Orre DID infact get hit pretty badly by the Kanto/Unova war.

Lastly, Kalos is connected. Kalos, I believe, would have been used as a massive shelter and refugee location for victims of the war, Pokemon and Human alike. This explains why there are a ridiculous amount of hotels spread across the region, perhaps previously used as shelters. It would also explain Kalos's massive PokéDex, as much of the refugee Pokémon would have bred and spread through the region.

One last kicker? In HG/SS, Lt. Surge gives you a French Pikachu (English in the Japanese Games), connecting him to PokéEurope & Kalos in general. This Pikachu was probably one of the rescued Pokemon that had lived, or was born in Kalos because of the war.

TL;DR - The Kanto War we briefly hear about is the Pokémon equivalent of WW2, with all of PokéMurika and Europe involved.

This doesn't mean there was a Hitler, of places were literally bombed, or there were PokéJews or anything, it just means the same concept of a World War between three continents applied to Pokemon, albiet for completely different reasons we may never know.

Posted this in another thread recently, gonna' post it here;

Both Mewtwo MegaEvolutions, along with MegaCharizardX are man-made Mega's.

Mewtwo's Mega's were created to push the limits and capabilities of the experiment. CharizardX's Mega was created scientifically, possibly alongside Mewtwo, in an attempt to remove Charizards flaws, and experiment with type changing.

Pic Related is the best image I have been able to find for this. It ties evidence found in Origins (The canon interpretation of Red's journey) to the theory.

Ethan/Lyra & Dawn/Lucas are the most important characters in Pokémon.

Because of the HG/SS Event, we know that Ethan/Lyra are the canon owners of not just Arceus, but one of three possible Creation Gods.

However, you couldn't obtain Arceus in HG/SS, you had to have received it in a trade from Platinum, where Dawn/Lucas had the opportunity to catch Arceus in an Event.

Because of the HG/SS Event, we can assume that Dawn/Lucas did infact catch the PokéGod, and probably at the request of Arceus himself, send him over to the Johto region, to Ethan/Lyra, knowing that they would eventually bring Arceus to the Ruins of Alph.

On top of this, Ethan/Lyra defeat Red, the previous Pokémon champion at the time, and Ethan/Lyra wasn't present at the Pokémon World Tournemant, making Ethan/Lyra not only undefeated Champions, but the owner of Gods.

If you go by what they've achieved in games, aren't Calem/Serena pretty much gods themselves? I mean they have complete control over life or death (Yveltal/Xerneas will still side with you even if you defeat them, and it states they wish to help you.) Plus you beat a 2000 year old trainer, and stop a holocaust by claiming death itself (Or snatch immortality for yourself)

To add to this, runner up's are Hilda/Hilbert, and Rosa/Nate.

Hilda/Hilbert are the only confirmed Protags who caught their respective cover legends.

Rosa/Nate are the only Protags to defeat every Regions Champion.

It has a canon chapter in the story where you speak to Roxie and Colress. On top of this, and NPC in Opulucid city confirms that the Multi-verse exists in Pokémon, so we can assume that any In-Game goal in the Pokémon games can and did get completed by the games Protagonists.

So yes, Rosa/Nate DID become a movie star, as well as becoming the Champion of the region. (Not too unlikely, Diantha did the same) and then DID proceed to wipe the floor with the other champions at the PWT.

Only exceptions being the previous Protags, who weren't present at the PWT, and any DLC tournaments, which can be considered 100% non-canon, because some of them were ridiculous.

Yeah, Calem/Serena are two very powerful trainers. It's also left very ambiguous, but in X, it could be suggested that Calem, Serena, Shauna, and Lysandre all gained immortality when he activated the bomb. Unless we get a sequel, we may never know.

Arceus doesn't seem to have any godlike powers now though, at least by game logic, since he can e contained in a pokeball and caught/defeated by pretty much regular pokemon/trainers. Bear in mind, the Pokemon do all the work.

In the 12th Movie, it's explained that the Plates Arceus holds are the source of his Power. Holding all of them, Arceus is a God, but if he is missing some, he can be hurt.

In-Game, Pokemon can only hold one item at a time, and it seems like the Plates In-Game, were scattered across the region, so when Arceus is battled in the games, he is in his most vulnerable state.

Not so sure about Jessie and Meowth, but James has showed as much, if not MORE compassion to his Pokémon than Ash at times, and has been a consistently great character, even at the anime's lowest points. I'd love James to quit Team Rocket.

The reason Ash's Pikachu can get its ass beat by a wild Pokémon is because in the show, there is no such thing as a level. From here, I have two theories. Either evolutions don't really matter, and enough training can get any pokemon to be usable, (Gif related)
or all pokemon are at the equivalent of level 50

I think he probably fought in PokéNam or Poké Desert Storm or something, at at some point during or after was stationed in Kanto, and decided to stay once he had kicked so many asses he got offered a gym leader position.

Poké World War II would have probably been a long fucking time ago, too.

An NPC speculates on the Multi-Verse, and says the he crossed into another dimension where White Forest was a large Black City. I assume in Black version, the same NPC wil mention finding the forest instead.

You're right and wrong at the same time. I think it's established that levels dont exist, but experience does.

This is why Roxie's Koffing was all pro, despite being a seemingly weak Pokemon to anybody who watched the original series, or has touched the game.

The reason Pikachu "Reset" in Black & White was because it got hit by a thunderbolt from Zecrom or some shit, and got nerfed, but aside from that, there's no explanation for how Pikachu occasionally loses to weaker Pokemon in Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh.

Less so Sinnoh though, because Ash was pretty competent that series.

Lance is not the only trainer in the pokemon world with underleveled evolutuion but, I think most if not all, trainers with underleveled pokemons are gym leaders/elite 4. And why is this?

First let me remind you of 2 facts:
1. There are wild underleveled pokemons like Kakuna, Metapod, Pigeotto, Gyarados.
2. Lance and (for example) Falkner are both trainers that specialize on a single pokemon type.

Now that you have the facts I'll give you my bullshit: In every game you are a beginner, you know jack-shit about training pokemon.

Te most loyal interpretation of the games to date (Pokemon Origin) don't have a single mention levels so it would be rather safe to assume that pokemon evolve based on the ''type of training'' they're given.

Lance should be an expert in training dragons so he can unleash the full potential of an evolution line sooner than you, same thing applies to Falkner.

''What about wild pokemon?'' you might ask.
First of all, you already answered it. Pokemon are wild creatures, they are not supposed to be tamed so it's rather logical to assume that they would achieve their full potential living in their natural habitat sooner than they would if they're being tamed by someone who just started doing so.

Gary/Blue/Green/DICKS wasn't just a cunt, he was a professional cunt.

Let's look at his various pop ups through the series shall we? The nugget bridge, SS Ann, Pokemon Tower, Silph Co, the league, and finally Viridian gym.

What do these things have in common? Well most are related to team rocket. The nugget bridge has the recruiting team rocket member, who blue never mentions despite having met him.

In the SS Ann he used a Raticate. Common rocket gruntmon. Also he was seen walking out of the captains cabin, when we walk in the captain is seriously ill.

In the pokemon tower we see him on the first floor. Why? No pokemon are on this floor and there are no other trainers on this floor, no mention again of Team Rocket who are a few floors ahead.

Silph Co. He just randomly pops up in the middle of Silph Co. During the Rocket takeover. When you beat him he calls Giovanni "Boss Rocket"

And in gold and silver he takes over Giovannis old gym.

Your rival was part of Team Rocket.

Agatha isn't a ghost type trainer, she's a Poison type master.
Falkner isn't really a gym leader, he's just playing one while his dad is gone, using his pokemon.

My theory is that in-game Arceus isn't literally God, it's from a race of extradimensional Pokémon that entered the universe while it was still in a chaotic state and used its powers over all elements to trigger or create the Big Bang.

Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina were subordinate races from the same dimension that Arceus augmented and used to control time and space, giving the Arceus civilization complete control over their universe.

For some reason a group of Arceus came to this universe, who knows why. The egg legend comes from the fact that Arceus, as an extradimensional being, cannot properly manifest on this plane, and so has to rebirth itself in a new, "3 dimensional" body in order to exist here.

Also, a single Arceus has the intelligence of a very gifted human and is merely as powerful as an extraordinarily strong Pokémon. It takes a group of Arceus, all fully outfitted with the 18 plates and a ??? Type plate, to do something godly like creating matter.

I believe that Pokemon are not always born inside an egg, but rather the mother can choose whether or not an egg is formed.

In X/Y, One NPC states that pokemon eggs are not really eggs, but are something more along the lines of cradles. This along with the pokemon's heavily implied intelligence makes me think that when a pokemon is to have a child, she may choose to encase it in an egg to keep it safe, or have it be born live if her environment is safe and will likely stay safe.

However, if a pokemon theoretically does not need to be hatched, what does the egg do? It keeps them safe until they are old enough to defend themselves (a lvl 1 mon can still fight) or until they are sure that whomever they are with are trustworthy enough to be considered safe to be around.

With this, we come back to a pokemon's supposed intelligence. A mon in the daycare is likely smart enough to realize that it won't be there long enough to take care of its young properly, so she entrusts it to you; her trainer. She also is able to know that a journey isn't quite the thing an infantile pokemon should be on, so she puts it in an egg to keep it safe.

Not a bad idea. I do think that Pokemon families born and raised away from civilization will grow differently. The anime even alludes to this. The Mewtwo Returns special has Ash find a place protected from humans for hundreds of years, and in there, there were baby Nidoqueen. Like, they were born fully evolved, yet really small and baby like. It was weird.

>Humans and Pokemon
Humans ARE Pokemon, Normal type. The only difference is their culture, sense of self identity, abilities of logical and abstract thinking, and concepts of language and history are much greater than all Pokemon, with the exception of a few like Arceus. Even highly intelligent creatures like Mewtwo and Alakazam are still more beholden to animal instinct than humans. Humans are related to primate-like Pokemon and share ancestors, but millions of years of relying on Pokemon husbandry and invention has left them physically weak and unable to be effective in battle against any Pokemon. The only reason you can't catch a person in a Pokeball is that they are created in a way to prevent that, it would be theoretically possible to modify it to do so with a lot of effort, but you would probably be executed for it. The perceived superiority of humans over Pokemon has been the cause of lots of war, and most who disagree with it live in exile.

I've been going on the assumption that Red exiled/quarantined himself away on Mt Silver because contact with Missingno on Cinnabar Island drove him insane (like he's having delusions that he's got infinite quantities of items in his bag).

He's on Mt Silver as it's extremely unlikely he'll encounter it again up there and he's attempting to get his shit together.

I would stretch it, and say that some Pokémon, such as Trubbish, may have inspired things like Trashbags, and Vanillite inspiring Ice Cream, rather than a Pokemon that evolved to look like an Ice Cream or some shit.

Like, "Oh hey, that Pokemon kinda' looks like a bag, you see that knot there? Maybe if we store trash in plastic, and tie it like that, it'll be easier to get rid of! I'll get right on it!"

Blue, having been beaten so quickly by Red, decides that being Champion just isn't for him either, so he gives the title to Lance, and heads off to get stronger/pursue other interests, eventually winding up as Viridian's Gym Leader. Red periodically comes down from Mt. Silver to visit everyone, but sometimes gets so into his training that he stays up there for months at a time. The Pokemon Center at the foot of the mountain was built for this reason. When Red loses to Gold he goes home for a bit and then decides that Mt. Silver has done all it can for him, resulting in him traveling the world. Whenever he's home he still makes the trek up the mountain, though, 'cause Mt. Silver's got a banging view.

The Pokemon revived from fossils aren't all actually dual X/Rock-type. The in-game Arceus is an avatar. Do you think Vishnu's only form is the blue man? Deities have the ability to change form, be reborn, and be in multiple places at once. The reason why Slaking has Truant is because of a very specific environment. Maybe it needs to fight apex predators all the time and because of that it needs absurd power and bulk in order to survive. Since it needs to quickly build up enough strength to overcome the most harsh conditions, it literally needs a cooldown period otherwise its body won't handle the effort and will collapse. Much like a cheetah, Slaking doesn't have the necessary physiology in order to sustain its most impressive skill after a while. Slaking does what it needs to, and it does it quickly, otherwise it will kill itself.

This is technically true, from my own personal experience. However, that doesn't explain why black people can't be in the PokéTopia. Any darker characters in Pokémon don't act like niggers, so I dont see what the problem is here.

Back on topic, I like to imagine Pic Related is a thing. Not necisarilly with Marowak, but I like the idea that if a persons Pokémon dies, Torterra will often offer to carry their tombstone with them, so that they can continue to travel with their Trainer and friends.

Voltorb is actually a trainer's former pokeball that glitched and absorbed the pokemon held inside it, and that pokemon is now the Voltorb. That's why basic pokeballs are so cheap, more expensive pokeballs don't do that, with the exception of Great Balls, but the chances of those glitching are FAR lower.

The reason you can breed Voltorbs is because the pokeball that the hatchling comes in originally held a Ditto, and that glitched too.

When a Pokeball holds a Pokemon, it reads its genetic code and marks the Pokemon with something like a microchip. Lt. Surge is a Unovan.

However, in Kanto there is a popular show that takes place in America, which is fictional in the pokemon universe and easily mistaken for Unova; many of children in the town he moved into are major fans but have trouble figuring out he's from Unova and not America.

It stuck because he didn't want to let down the kids who thought he was some sort of TV superhero.

Also, the Anime version of him was nothing like the game version of him, who is really nice and fun to be around if you aren't a gym challenger.

I'm also finding similarities between Volcanion and the Hindu deity, Vayu. Vayu is the regent of the wind/atmosphere. Volcanion's dex classification is the Steam Pokemon. It is said that Ananta-sesha (The snake) issued a challenged which Vayu (The wind/atmosphere deity) accepted. Ananta said Vayu would win if he destroyed the mountain Ananta protected wiith his thousand heads. Vayu was able to destroy the mountain, just like how Volcanion's dex entry states that it has the ability to blow away a mountain with its steam. Maybe the dex entry is not as exaggerated as it sounds, and it actually relates to something like this? And maybe this conflict was possible because they each guard a certain ecosystem: the ecosystem of the ground (Zygarde) and the ecosystem of the air/atmosphere (Volcanion)? Maybe their next movie will feature the conflict between Zygarde and Volcanion? Just speculating, but I think it sorta fits together.

The power of a Mega-Evolution varies depending on the strength of the bond that the mega evolution embodies. For example, a trainer and their starter would have a very powerful mega evolution, whereas a trainer using mega evolution on a pokemon they hardly know would be weaker.

It's all pretty damn confusing to me. In the origins episode, Red and charizard had that moment of trust that enabled it to mega evolve. In the game, the main character you seems to have auto affinity with pokemon that are able to mega evolve. like how Korrina gave you one of her Lucarios right off the bat, and had you mega evolve it for a battle

Basically, Ethan has the most legendaries of all, and after defeating Red worked closely with Lucas to complete the Pokedex and gain info on every native Pokemon of the Japan-based regions. Between them they have caught every Pokemon EXCEPT Celebi, Deoxys, Jirachi, Manaphy and Mew. Deoxys was caught by May, Manaphy was transferred from that Ranger region, and Celebi, Jirachi and Mew have never been canonically captured, but have had various encounters with the player characters.

I would like to agree, except that levels are mentioned in one of the early episodes in the first season. It was the pokemon trainer school episode.

Personally I've been considering anything with a story element canon, so events with story(celebi, arceus) would be canon but events that just give you something(manaphy) aren't. But I'm not sure.

Nate/Rosa are Hilbert/Hilda's cousins. They're respective moms are sisters, they're all native Unovans, they just live a short distance apart in Unova for one reason or another.

This explains the cheeky references a lot of NPCs make in BW2 to the protag about how much he/she resembles the Champion (Hilbert/Hilda).

At the end of BW2 when Nate gets to the town where you START in BW1, he's just visiting his aunt's house after a long journey for some R&R.

Karen was born in Ecruteak City.

Oak has had his radio gig in Goldenrod for quite a while following his run-in with Celebi as a kid. Considering the short distance between the two cities, Karen and Sam Oak eventually met, woo'd, and fucked.

Blue is Oak's grandson. So who is Blue's father and why isn't he around? In the Pokemon world, fathers tend to be out of touch because they have Gym leadership duties. We've seen this with Norman.

So who is Blue's father/Oak's son/Karen's son? To answer this, we need to analayze the region of Johto. Besides Goldenrod, it's a pretty backwoods, rustic place, and their Gym Leaders are pretty pathetic. Falkner's daddy got him the job, Bugsy's a fucking kid, Whitney is a spoiled annoying bitch with bad etiquette. All in all just a really pathetic display of competitive skill, they even share a League with Kanto, the only region not to have their own.

With all of this in mind I surmise that Morty is Oak's son and Blue's father, shares his mother's love for Ghost types, and got the job as Gym Leader by having connections with the League through his mother and a popular radio personality for a father.

When they returned, they were much more like the Gardevoir we know today, an echo of the lord's judgement buried in their chests.

Difference between Arceus iand Celebi is that Celebi was just "Given" to Ethan/Lyra, whereas Arceus had to be traded from Sinnoh where Ethan/Dawn would have actually caught it.

Well some of them, Lugia for example, are just rare.

However the ones like Kyogre & Groudon have In-Game lore and mythology that is basically confirmed by the games plots.

So Rayquaza really is the sole protector of the skies, Groudon did shape the lands, ect.

So when they rested at the Sky Tower, or whatever it was called, in Johto, I assumed it literally was the same ones that Brendan/May fainted.

Some reasoning behind my post is that, Brendan/May was never asked to capture those legends, only stop them from destroying the world.

Ethan/Lyra on the other hand, were followed by the 5 Kimono girls to make sure that they would be "The one". There was no peril involved with Lugia or Ho-oh, the Kimono girls wanted to make sure you wouldn't harm the creature, or use it for selfish purposes.

Unlike Mewtwo, the Hoenn Cover Legends, ect, Ho-oh and Lugia have never been in a main series game that takes place after their original début.
(With the two Mega's, I believe the Kalos Mewtwo is a different one. The anime followed this, so it isn't too hard to believe that the games are too, Pic Related)

I think Ho-oh & Lugia are the only legends in Pokémon where you are EXPECTED to catch them, excluding Gen 5, by the NPC's of the game.

Just because you don't HAVE to catch Groudon doesn't mean they didn't. I mean you don't HAVE to catch most legendaries. I usually operate with the assumption that if it's possible for the player to do something in the game without hacking and it's intended by the design, then the player character did it.

Also I still don't buy that there's only one of each of the Weather Trio. I theorized in an earlier post that Groudon belongs to a species that thrives in the conditions of early planet development and initially covered the earth, terraforming it, and Kyogre in turn helped develop oceans and Rayquaza atmospheres, and now just slumber in hidden, deep places.

As for Serena/Calem, I'd rather wait until the definitive version (Z) is released, to think about what they achieved in the Pokémon world.

The anime delt with this actually, featuring baby Lugia's and stuff, but of course, you gotta take it with a pinch of salt, because you can' use the anime as hard evidence for something in the games.

I would say Rangers is definitely canon though. There doesn't even have to be any confusion about Pokémon in those games, because everything you catch is temporary.

Orre is more tricky, because GF doesn't actually acknowledge it in their main series games, due to a different studio actually making those games.

I personally treat it as canon, but if there is ever a significant canon dispute, the main series games will always be to go-to for canon, you know what I mean?

Emboar looks the way it does because it's been selectively bred and domesticated.

I unlocked the Sinnoh one with Regis from Sapphire and unlocked the Black2 one with it's native Regirock and Registeel and another Regice from Sapphire.

Well Deoxys is a bit more in the grey area because Red/Branden/May obtaining it doesn't really DO anything.

The NPC in Opulucid City does mention the multiverse, so hell, they all could have got it, it doesn't affect any future games, so it shouldn't really be thought about too much.

The Beasts were a little more important, because they actually affected content in a later game.

Red originally had an Espeon to refer to the fact that it was the first game with a Day/Night Cycle. Makes sense that the first protagonist who adventures at nighttime would have an Umbreon.

I think the Mesozoic Era in Pokémon just happened to be dominated by Rock types. Relicanth is a good example of a non-fossil Mesozoic Rock type.

Also moves like Ancient Power. Also note that there are a lot of dinosaur-esque Grass type herbivores, like Venusaur, Meganium, Sceptile, Torterra, etc. So perhaps the Grass typing developed because of how common Rock type predators were.

I like to think evolution in games is relative to the trainers skill. All the protags have about equal skill, which is why the evolving techniques are consistent for the player throughout the games. However, some NPC's are better or worse, such as Falkner's Pidgeotto or Lance's Dragonite.They're more talented than the guy with a level 37 Kakuna, or 3 level 30 Magikarp.

Going of of this, the vast wilds of strong pokemon are the reason humans live on islands and near the coasts, areas where either large and powerful pokemon are limited in number or their are less fronts to defend from attacks.

This is why the lower level pokemon tend to be found near the coasts, with the protagonist often starting in coastal cities (Numeva town, pallet town, etc,), and higher level pokemon are found in the isolated alpine regions and wilderness bordering the wild.

Kalos is larger than other regions because the natives had the power of mega-evolution, allowing their pokemon to drive out stronger opponents, and the massive war also limited wild pokemon presence, allowing for further expansion but also explaining the lack of "post-game" wild pokemon.

I think of it to be something that's more unique to Kalos. Like, we have the pure fairy types that were originally native there, and when Pokemon from other regions where introduced there and bred with Florges, Slurpuff, etc. some of them gained that typing as a genetic mutation. Given the fairy type's strength, natural selection occurred to an extreme where only the fairy types were still alive. This could also spread to mons in other regions, since I can't imagine fairy type will get deleted in later gens.

The only issue is that throwaway line Sina or Dexio (can't remember which) says about Fairy changing the type chart. I guess it could be like some sort of virus which can only target certain Pokemon: it's pretty non-harmful, but it messes with the Pokemon enough to either completely change it's typing completely (maybe Florges was originally part Grass, Slurpuff/Aromatisse were normal) or add a secondary type to it.

I think Pokemon (almost all of them) are practically as intelligent as people, but can still be overridden with instinct (wild/newly caught especially). I think the reason why starters are starters is because of their intelligence, loyalty, and ability to get along with their trainers. This becomes easier to see as they age/evolve.

I do however think that Pokemon, while they can be as intellectual as people, are still animals and can be treated like pets while not feeling like a lesser being, provided you still respect that fact that it probably understands you and can most likely kill you. That's why you can pet its head and hug it and it's like having a friend but petting a cat or puppy or whatever.

The easiest way I can explain it shortly is that it's like if your dog could understand you and was sapient.

Ghost Pokémon aren't actually deceased spirits or literal ghosts. They are actually creatures from another dimension crossing over into this one. In order to manifest here they have to tie themselves to something physical. The Gastly line possesses poison gas that slowly gains a more detailed and solid form as it evolves and strengthens it's foothold in this dimension.

Misdreavus attaches itself to beads and makes its ghost form around that. Shuppet attaches to cloth and eventually transforms it into a doll form. Duskull just finds a skull, etc.

However secondary Ghost types like Golurk are NOT from other dimensions, they are Pokémon or man-made objects that have Ghost type Pokémon artificially and forcefully binded to them. For example Golurk and Aegislash were made by humans as soldiers, Rotom and Jellicent were Pokémon that became more fit by figuring out how to trap and bind Ghosts to themselves and use their powers, and over time and through successive generations they just became innate.

I like to consider Ptokemon Types as being classifications. Thus when a certain type grows large and unique enough they can be classified as a new type. Moves work much in a similar manner.

Older Pokemon and Moves can be retyped if they meet the specific classifications.

i.e. Magnemite was an Electric type and then when Steel typing became official Magnemite met the specifications and was deemed Electric/Steel
Bite was Normal until the Dark typing was applied to Pokemon and since Dark Pokemon were able to perform Bite more effectively (STAB) it was retyped.

This is why Pokemon like Gardevoir and Marill etc. gained Fairy typing and why Fairy typing wasn't introduced until Gen VI, there were finally enough Pokemon with those qualities to make it an official type.

I suppose the Pokemon Professors have to be researching something other than the effects of sending children of single mothers off into the wild, right?
