You're all really overestimating Jigglypuff's chances. Like another anon said, if there's only one more Pokemon slot it would probably go to Mewtwo. Jigglypuff is an irrelevant Pokemon that was popular 15 years ago, no one gives a shit about it now. And before you bring up its popularity in Japan, it's not 2001 anymore. It's not popular there either.

If it comes down to it, Mewtwo is infinitely more popular than Jigglypuff, and that's how Game Freak chooses its characters for Smash. Being a veteran doesn't mean as much as you think it does, otherwise Megaman would have been a lock in for Marvel vs Capcom 3. Megaman is a fucking gaming icon and didn't make it in there, Jigglypuff is a significantly less relevant character that's part of a series with 700+ others, a lot of whom eclipse it in popularity.
