What I love about the Substitute plush is that it's not simply a representation of a Pokemon. It's the exact same thing that appears in the games.

Because the official plushes were only sold in Japan, and are no longer produced. Not many people had a chance to get one.

It sold like hotcakes in Japan. The problem is that Nintendo only produced 2 runs of it and decided not to make any more despite the huge demand. They could have easily made a bunch more that would sell really well but didn't because they hate money or something.
