Why did that never come back??? Finding those items is such a bitch without it (except for heartscales which are easy to get in x/y)

Are you fucking kidding me anon? THe first thing I did when I got the skates was try to take them off.

What is their purpose? Answer: They don't have one. If you want to go fast, you use your bike. If you want to go slower you run. If you want to go slow you walk. Game Freak better them toggleable in Z.

inb4 GF remove the bike and keep the roller skates
