Things like stall, having a certain Pokemon set up and sweep, creating a baton pass team that passes its boosts to one Pokemon, etc.

Right. I was thinking about some sort of rain team but I'm not too sure how it works. I've been getting my ass kicked because my "strategy" is normally just two bulky pokemon and the rest would be attackers and special attackers.

I want to find a way to use some of my favorites but make them viable.

Free slot usually goes to some kind of "insurance" pokemon designed to wreck what the rest of my team has the most trouble with.

What are the other important niches needed in a team aside from the generic roles such as a wall, sweeper or lead? I mean stuff like the Will o' Wisper, the Taunter, Rapid Spinner, hazard setter, stallbreaker, Baton Passer, priority user and dualscreener. From what I've seen something with Taunt is pretty essential, and if Battle Spot then a dualscreener or some sort of Ghost Wisper is important for Kangaskhan and other offensive threats.

Well you mentioned a lot of good stuff to have on a team, and you want to aim to have as much or all of that if you can. Remember that dedicated leads are dead this gen, and that the meta has shifted to utility-walls that can learn 2-3-4 of those moves you mentioned (I'm looking at you, Scarmory, and Mandibuzz)
