Previously, the Warriors were engaged with combat with Flannery and the occupying forces of Sootopolis, in their attempt to steal the Legendary Pokemon the forces had stolen. They happened to be fighting alongside Mike at the moment, as allies of opportunity.

Flipping back to a horizontal angle, Vilbert's Cryogonal evaded the flaming roundhouse kick from Flannery's Blaziken. It backed up and returned to being upright, trying another large beam after the last fizzled into nothing. Drizz'l sent out an Octillery to help, "Octazooka!"

Dropping the Dewgong he'd performed a spinning combo (and missed) with, Bikke fell on his ass out of the way of the incoming Psychic attack. The Pokemon fought on against the Meowstic on its own.

Garland's support squad of Clefable continued their efforts to keep the team going, while the knight himself was attempting to sneak up behind Flannery. Rather poorly.

The two attacks were too much for the pokemon, the thing going down hard from the super effective attack, it's master recalling it. The group in front of the door kept to cover, the scene too chaotic to fight back.

Their target now taken down, the Cryogonal and Octillery turned their attention to Flannery, attempting to bring her down. Drizz'l had no real problem with applying lethal force here, but Vilbert and his Cryogonal focused on disabling her as Mike was. She'd already come back from the brink of death before.

Even with the magic crippled the girl managed to set out the pokeball, revealing a Magmortar which observed the fighting and it's wounded trainer with worry before going after the two largest threat of the Cornelians, leaving Mike relatively ignored as it slammed into the ground, knocking some of the rubble from the level above onto the group.

The Gasmasked grunts resisted the choking attacks somewhat due to the heavy masks and uniforms over their necks, though the distraction and sudden closeness caused them to take time to shake the things off, several slamming the things into the walls with their helmets to shake them off while another few simply attempted to rip the frail bodies apart with their bayonets.

From above the singular sniper the group had started mobbing had been pushed to the edge, the grunt taking a look at the side before jumping free to carry them with him.

The remaining free snipers opened fire again, the rest moving on up to a new position higher up.

The approaching hovercraft came in closer to the edge of the mountain, right into the killzone set up ahead of time.
As they passed into the targeted space a series of rockets flew out from somewhere just beyond the rim of the city to impact all around them, some going into the water and others landing on the platform themselves, the impacts with either either setting off small explosions or releasing pokeballs from within, several containing either Koffing or Weezing.

Mike and his team had managed to slow Flannery down, but not stop her entirely. Paula was able to cut off only the gym leader's sorcery; the Gardevoir had too little power to also engage any Pokemon in battle. Once more a Psychic attempt was made to disable any sort of magic powers; fiery as she was, she could use Pokemon like everyone else, right?

In the meantime, Mike himself was still busy attending to his team. Now that everyone outside their balls was on their feet, it was time to call out the injured ones. The trainer chose to first call out Sunny, his Tropius. Afterward, Mike had to work fast to remove the bullet from his Pokemon's flesh, then apply medicine before she bled to death. [Evens succeeds, odds fails and makes things a lot worse.]

The rocket barrage brought down the remaining hovercraft. Wattson returned his Manectric, before slipping on a pair of metal gloves and jumping up to latch onto the bottom of his Magnezone, which used Protect to deflect the missiles that struck it. The magnet Pokemon flew up to the cliff face, finding a nook where it could hide out with its trainer.

The rest of the Garybombers abandoned ship on their Fearow, though several were taken down regardless. The remaining dismounted Garmy members and Fearow focused their efforts on disabling the anti-air weapons.

With Flannery mostly away her pokemon was left to hold the line itself, the pokemon swerving aside of the majority of the strikes, the ninja stars digging into it's skin as it moved to evade their attacks, instead going after Clefable attempting to put up the Reflect before smashing down with a Cross chop to knock it out of the fight.

With Flannery down it just left the final group of defenders, barely a squad left.

With the heavy hitters down it was down to four men and 2 pokemon waiting just past them, though with the MagMortar in the way that meant attacking was out of the question, of course that didn't mean they just had to sit there and do nothing.

Between the falling rocks getting a direct hit, and a bullet to the shoulder as he fell to the ground, Drizz'l was out of the fight. Vilbert's Mightyena was nearly taken out as well, only hanging on by a thread. It kept up the attacks against the large fire type alongside Bikke's Dewgong, while Vilbert dragged Drizz'l over to where Bikke was hiding... and throwing up.

The crew of the other guns were thrown off by the bird attacks, the final one firing a pure shrapnel shell at point blank range into the group, while the rest on the rest of the mountain top took notice of them.

Down below they had even more success the final sniper going down along with the two starmie leaving only the two ice masks remaining to hold the line.

The final sniper fell back bleeding from the strike the man, holding his weapon one handedly as he faced down the rider trailing him, awaiting the other's next attack.

The remaining guards of the first line rallied though, the men the Ice types firing a blast of icy wind into the remaining enemies to slow them down.

Garland seemed to have some sort of plan; as Mike passed by, the knight cast a spell that caused the ground to rumble briefly. The cliffs above began to shift, forming a ceiling over the area they were in, to prevent further attacks from the snipers above.

Meanwhile, the Dewgong was taken down. With Bikke and Drizz'l both incapacitated, Vilbert returned it and tried to help in finishing off the Magmortar, even though his ice spells were ineffective.

The sudden overhang would deny the remaining snipers a clear shot, the rest deciding to instead go and take charge of guarding the outside of the base.

The second group meanwhile just kept dropping down lower and lower to catch up.

Taking the time to provide medicine for his team had paid off well; Mike was prepared for such an attack. Stepping up to the plate, Samus led the charge and absorbed the brunt of the flames. Being a fire type, she was less affected than anyone else would have been; the Blaziken returned fire by slamming her right fist into the ground to generate an Earthquake under the attacking forces.

Upon appearing back in the open area, the first thing Black Mage noticed was that it was no longer 'open'. The second thing was the fire and earth-shaking noise coming from some distance away. Looking over, BM spotted Mike trying to fight his way inside of the cave. He began running in that direction, while the PT behind him charged up to make a more dynamic entry.

Mike would love to stick around and help, he really would, but he was sniper fodder if he stayed out there. Besides, there was still the matter of the flamethrowing squad to attend to. Speaking of attending, Samus had soaked up the incoming fiery assault, not to mention the bullets. The Blaziken's unique type combo ensured that the bullets dealt only minimal damage, but that didn't mean they didn't hurt like hell. Another Earthquake was thrown, in hopes of sinking her enemies into the ground. If this didn't work, she didn't know how much more she could take... especially with that old wound flaring up again.
