I've actually ran Zoroark on PO back when they had the no preview tiers. Had it disguised as Deoxys-S and Forretress. It got me to like 1450, pretty much the dropoff before people starter cheating(#3 was 1480, #1 was 1810)

The only time they'll tell you not to use something is if it's totally outclassed. Since the tiers are based on usage and an occasional ban, Zoroark being ranked low means that his niche, while unique, just doesn't find a place on most teams.
You'd think that people who bitch about big brother smogon taking away their freedom would know at all what they're talking about.
also yeah edgefox is pretty good

Zoroark is getting an OU analysis which at the very least means their QC team thinks it's OU viable, so there's that. It's just not a top-tier threat.

Physical Greninja is far more unpredictable and useful than Special. I laugh everytime I see the copy/paste Smogon set.

Having used both, I can safely say that Physical is FAR better. You have no idea how good it feels for U-Turn to actually do damage, and Acrobatics is so satisfying

Nothing, because no Flying Gem yet sadly, but I've heard about people using Fling, but that restricts freedom on the first turn if you're leading.

Alternatively, Normal Gem Return

But those options are only if you absolutely must have an item on it when starting the match, I've found that direct access to the full power of Acrobatics is far more useful.

Just me though, I know a lot of people will instantly think ">no item", and brush the concept away.

true, that's why im hoping Flying Gem will be released again, but with that interview about GameFreak unhappy with the current state of Pokemon and wanting to simplify things next Gen, I honestly can't see them releasing it anymore.

Not necessarily. Greninja's special move pool is much less versatile, and mixed/physical sets can use the moment of surprise to their advantage.

And 110 BP Acrobatics is almost as strong as 80 BP attacks + a Life Orb boost.

No, it's special set is pretty fucking versatile, and stronger than any physical set to boot. A purely physical Greninja can't slay a
Garchomp in one hit with STAB Ice Beam, for instance.

And btw, LO boosted Return actually outdamages no-item Acrobatics by a good 10% on most 'mons. Physical Greninja, though interesting, just doesn't cut it. Special Greninja is the better pokemon 98% of the time..

Garchomp won't survive an Ice Beam from almost anything, unless it has a Sash or Yache Berry.

And what fits your team better depends on your other members. If you have Ice Beam on half of them already, you don't need to put it on Greninja to turn it into the best of all defensive types thanks to Protean.

My point was that a Greninja with Ice Beam has the utility to prevent a Garchomp sweep as long as it lives, as it can even OHKO it through a yache berry. Not to mention LO Hydro Pump out-damages no item Acrobatics by a lot.

I'm not saying physical moves are bad on Greninja. But his special moves do deal more damage, in general.

Why not Hasty/Naive and just go mixed? It works, as it has both the stats and movepool for it. I can almost guarantee that anyone who sees one physical/special move coming off of your frog will instantly assume purely physical/special.

That's a pretty rare item on Garchomp though. Focus Sash is more common, where the extra power won't help you a bit.

By almost exactly 30%, but it also has only 80% accuracy. And it hits completely different targets

Yes, flinging a kings rock will cause 100% flinch.

Flame orb will burn and toxic orb will badly poison.

you should really read this page before using fling.

You can also fling a Hard Stone or Fossil big big dommage. (or an iron ball for even bigger dommage but then you are gimping yourself and risk getting killed before moving so there is that)
