Isn't it kind of funny how the Pokéwalker is the best pedometer in the world? I mean, even though I love it, it's still a gimmick. But Nintendo and Game Freak managed to make a better pedometer than companies which specifically produce pedometers.

Besides some dodgy shoulder buttons, Nintendo have always been insanely good at build quality. Sure, their online system is kinda crap, and they're running low on games people actually want right now, but I feel confident that if I were to smash somebody's face in with a Wii U, it would still be in perfect condition.

Honestly, only really noticeable at three times or higher. There is a little timer next to the charges it gets a number there when a multiplier is active.

So 2000 steps minimum if you want to make it faster.
With shaking the 3DS that would take about ten minutes, in that time about three and a half orbs have already charged back.

Not really worth it.

Same. I go for a walk every morning to get Play Coins anyway, for Mii Plaza puzzle pieces. A second ten-minute walk after work is just enough to get the 3x multiplier usually, and then I can breed/ train all night. Completely worth.

Mixed blessing. No always-online shit, and no forcing multiplayer into games that don't benefit from it (cc: Valve) but shitty GTSs and perpetually effecting the online capabilities of JRPGs. And things like streetpass being underused

I think it works also when cycling, so getting your multipliers would be even easier if you have a bike. (or home trainer if you're afraid of leaving your house)

It does, but timewise it's not as effective. My 10 minute bike ride to university counts as about 700-1000 steps while walking for 10 minutes should be more 2000 steps.

How much gets counted probably depends on where you place the 3DS. Leg pocket vs. jacket vs. bag. I guess the pocket would work best, but I have a 3DS XL here.

Definitely, I have it in my bag and apparently don't get that many steps.
Then again, I also have my Pokéwalker with me in my leg pocket and it kind of confirms the steps from the 3DS, so there shouldn't be a big difference.

I honestly don't know how you people do this pedometer shit. 3DS is ecksbawks hueg even if you aren't running an XL(which I am), I spend most of my 8 hours a day at work sitting at a desk and I'm not carrying around a fucking satchel, backpack or man purse just to carry around$250 worth of equipment I'll have no use for until I get home, anyway.

I wonder if anyone's ever come up with a device that can safely shake a 3DS quickly for pedometer steps? I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult, you could possible come up with an attachment for a paint shaker or one of those drink shaking machines they use at the bubble tea stands in the mall... Actually, when I think about it if you're going to cheat the pedometer anyway any money you would spend on a machine could easily be saved just by shaking your shit by hand while you watch Attack on Titan or something.

I really wish GF implemented compatibility with the PokéWalker with current generation games, that was one of my favourite features of HG/SS, the other being walking Pokémon. Pokémon Amie is a nice start and I would like to see GF do more with it in conjunction with the pedometer.

I also agree with the secret bases and streetpass idea ITT, that would be fucking awesome.

I find it perplexing how some people on this board seem so terrified of going outside. Some of you people can't even seem to handle politely greeting a Gamestop employee to ask for an event Pokémon.

On the other hand dress pants or nice pants for work won't fit an XL. You could probably jam it in with your phone if you try hard enough but then your pants might tear if you sit the wrong way. Either way you'll look like an idiot with a big as rectangular bulge in your pants.
