Hey guys, help an anon out?
I want to train an Aegislash and I'm thinking 252 Def, 108 Sp Def, and 148 HP with a sassy nature.
Swords Dance
Shadow Claw
Sacred Sword
Iron Head/King's Shield

How useful would this set be? any other useful sets for it?

I imagine with all those bulk invested EVs you'd want to have King's Shield on your set, as otherwise they'd all be invested in vain as soon as you switch to Blade Forme.

Most tend to invest in an offensive stat, though, as it had enough bulk to take a hit in Shield Forme. If you want to run other sets take a look into the "crumbled" one and the SubToxic set. Useful items to use include Spooky Plate, Life Orb, Leftovers and Weakness Policy, depending entirely on how you're using it.

What are you trying to accomplish with those defensive EVs?

The EVs aren't swapped when you stance change. They should go in your offensive stats if you want them to be used for offense.

I was thinking I'd use the defensive evs to get 3 swords dances off, maybe replace shadow claw with shadow sneak, I'm good at competitive play just decent at making my own sets.

I honestly wouldn't bother with Swords Dance, even if you're running a Physical set. You've got high offensive base stats once you Stance Change, and that extra moveslot could be filled with a coverage move whilst your power is boosted by an item instead.

Lots of people run mixed Aegislash now when they go offensive, though. Shadow Ball/Flash Cannon for a STAB move, Shadow Sneak for priority STAB, an a coverage move or two to go with 'em (unless they run King's Shield)

Because of how low it's base HP is you actually get better defenses by going for 252HP rather than 148 and splitting between Def and SDef.

I personally run special oriented one since it is better that way in VGC. Generally the best spread would be 252HP, 252SpA(or Atk) and 4Sdef unless you are specifically trying to EV to survive something there isn't much point in increasing Def/SDef since they are so high anyway, better to get more damage off.
