Wally represents how it felt the first time someone picked up a pokemon game. Wasn't really sure how to start,but eventually he became a beast.

Black 2 has better gameplay, more choice of mons, and a more interesting post-game. That said, I'd recommend playing Black 1 first. The story is surprisingly good with lots of feels, while Black 2 basically assumes you've already played Black 1

Hugh is the incarnation of wasted potential.
His team is meh, with two Pokémon "borrowed" from Cheren (and his team is only 3 through almost the whole game and 4 at Victory Road).
He's got anger management problems like the Hulk. I'm about to unleash my rage, HUGH SMASH PUNY PLASMA!
It looks like you're after him more than he's after you, and he teams up with you more times than he battles you.
At least, he had a goal with GIB BACK MUH PURRLOIN even it seemed pointless in the end.

To me, I consider Shauna,Trevor(The Ginger kid) and Tierno as friends since they never really compete against you.

To me, Serena is the biggest wasted potential to me as a Rival. The game tells you that her parents are great trainers so I couldn't help but have expectations of her as a rival. But the problems with her is that
>You don't get to battle her until before the 3rd Gym leader
>For the majority of the game, she have 3 Pokemon. Meowstic,Absol,and the Kalos Starter
>Then a Eeveelution before Anistar Gym
>And finally Altaria in VR and Clefable in Post-Game and Mega Absol.
I wanted her to have more pokemon in the story mode and is able to battle you way earlier than Shalour Town. I also want her to replace some Pokemon, but that's just me.

Biggest try-hard out there. Not to mention he kept shoving his little sister's face in the dirt. She was too young to remember Purloin being taken. But instead of counting losses and getting her a new one, or even just consoling her like an actual brother would, he reminds her that it was stolen and makes it seem like she could have stopped it, telling her she was too weak. That ruin's a kid's mentality.

They were sort of arrogant though. To me Serena and Calem seemed like those people who think they know everything but they have to pretend to be modest so they don 't look like jerks about it but you can still sort of tell they think they're better than everyone else.

So I just realized, the Rivals that are based off of playable characters are complete trash. Either by having weak teams that don't even fully evolve their starter (May/Brendan) or having weak teams where half of their Pokemon are missing a move (Calem/Serena).
