There are other issues with that team. Hitmontop and Sableye, mostly, don't really help with anything, and your mega Scizor set is a bit off (brick break hits nothing really, I'd use Swords Dance on that slot and replace Bug Bite with Roost for reliable setting up).

Fire Fang is a rather bad move in Chomp, too. I'd use Swords Dance or Fire Blast instead (even with no investment it gets the 2HKO on Skarmory).

Chomp - Gren - Scizor - Sylveon sounds like a decent start. You can add two offensive pokes on top of that or add a couple of defensive/support/pivots to make it more balanced. Aegislash would always fit a team like that. So would Azumarill. Landorus-t and CM Lando-i, Rotom, Tyranitar, Thundurus and even Hippowdon sound like decent options to me.

A couple of threads ago, I was suggested a cleric sylveon to go with Sneaky Pebbles chomp over the SubDance Chomp I was running (Or to switch my Thundurus-T to Thundurus-I)

I was still wondering:
-What was the full set for Cleric Sylveon to fill out after Wish/Hyper Voice/Heal Bell (along with spread if it isn't Calm 252 HP/252 SpD)

-If Defog Latias might work well if choosing to forgo rocks

-If Heatran on a balloon could work over cleric sylveon if deciding to keep sub-chomp

-Or if Keldeo-R could function as that sweeping sub point.

Notes from previous:
-Opener used to be mega-luc since it handled so many situations, second/third place openers were Chomp/Rotom-W depending on how things were going.
-Scizor Spread was mostly to maximize bulk
-Aegislash spread puts it at 16x-1 at level 50, Same with Slowbro
-Thundurus would likely be switched to Incarnate
-Rotom's spread is to let it survive Char-Y solarbeam at level 50 while still carrying physical bulk.
-Bro has stayed on the team due to being great counter to Bravest Burd and many physical things that presented issues to the team previously.
-Rotom-W protect will likely be replaced with Pain split once I get another opportunity to move stuff from the R4
-Thundurus-I was placeholder for lost Special M-Lucario.

I haven't had too many issues with the team, but at the same time I haven't played too much with the team since the M-Luc ban, so the team's testing is really outdated.

I put Latias in there to deal something super effective in there while having a defensive backbone for my team, but, I fear it's not the right Pokemon I'm looking for in this situation.
I'm kind of debating to try and make a team around Mega-Venasaur, but, that sounds like I'd be making a really stall heavy team. I'm not that good at competitive Pokemon and I think I'd prefer to stay more offensive, but, I'm not having that much luck. I know it's just because I'm bad and I need to get good, but, how do I get there?

Also, decided to play XY Ubers for the first time; what are the good anti-meta mons? Arceus-Steel? Bulky-Ogre? MegaChicken?

(I currently have LO mixed Naive Xerneas with Close Combat and Rock Slide, enough atk EVs to OHKO Ho-oh 80% of the time; default LO Yveltal and Genesect (unsure if physical or special biased, it's the Shift Gear event one, 6IV untrained)

I'll try Talonflame next time I go on then. I had a few games today, only won the ones where I felt like the other guy was more inexperienced than me. Learned a little bit though, so I'm happy.
My team was similar to before, but, instead of Latias, I put choice specs Latios, and replaced Gourgiest with a bulky Zapdos.

Been trying to make my first competitive Gen VI team for a while now (Was out of Pokemon for a while between the release of X & Y and buying the games about a month and a half ago), but I keep stumbling on the same issues whenever I do. First of all, the Mega of the team. Is it really necessary? 1. How necessary is having a Mega on your team?
2. Are there any somewhat unorthodox ones that you can make work in OU, and if so how? Weird sets on the normal ones that somehow work are fine too.
3. Any options for good physical attackers that aren't TTar, Chomp, Barney and all the other usual guys? Again, weird sets that work are fine too.
4. Why does Heatran counter almost everything, this Pokemon is so awesome.

Cresselia has so many options. Since no attack is likely to be OHKOing it any time soon it's hard to give it a spread to deal with such attacks. You don't need a mega by any means. Just use the best Pokemon for the job and if it happens to be mega just roll with it.

I've seen Mega Ampharos used in the top 10 of the OU ladder. It was on a rain team using a max speed agility set.

Talonflame is very popular, Mega Mawile and Pinsir are two of the premier physical attackers of the tier. Bisharp was a real powerhouse at the start of Gen6 but it's handled a bit more easily now.

Yeah, you may be onto something with Amphy. I bred some Agility Mareeps a while ago, maybe I should EV train one and see how it works out. I was kinda surprised to see Bisharp so high in the rankings that someone posted on here the other day, though. Is it just dat Knock Off r is there more to it?

Oh, and would a specially defensive TormenTran set with Magma Storm to trap be considered too gimmicky? It seems to me that it'd counter a lot of major threats like Bisharp, Aegislash, Scizor, Talonflame, etc.

I'm unsure on the exact percentages, but from what I recall, ToxiStall Aegislash doesn't run it and some sets forgo it for HP Fire/Ice.

I'd need to look around for his exact usage stats, though, because Higher ELOs are probably not as quick to toss it.

Reuniclus does it extremely well, being able to nuke after setting up trick room, while being bulky enough to handle most things. It's basically Cresselia Lite. (Also being able to run magic guard and not get spore'd out of fear of overcoat is awesome)

I always find full TR to be really lame in VGC, good players are always prepared for it. In my opinion you're better off working with semi TR, the true patrician playstyle.

Any suggests on the special wall? I'm currently using Sylveon, and it works quite well, but I want something to stop Megazard Y. I'm thinking of Tyranitar, but I don't like the sand, it would break my based Vivillon sash.

If you want a special wall just use Chansey. It can set rocks up for you since you don't have a setter, and it walls everything forever.

The best ZardY counter is ZardX anyways, you can set up on it and ohko it at +1 then sweep the rest of their pitiful teams.

It's the same as last gen as far as I know. Hits a poke, switches it out, 90 acc, 60 power, doesn't switch subs out. Maybe you're confusing it with another move?

Choose the folder of the month in question:
General usage stats that matter for OU are listed as OU-1760.0 (that's standard smog OU based only on 1760 ELO players)

If you want to see movesets, click on folder "Movesets", then select the file OU-1760.0 there. It gives you a rough idea what to expect when you see an aegislash, but it doesn't note exact sets.

Personally I'm not too much of a skarm person now, but it still is a solid option.

When I mono steel'd it was:
-M-Luc
-Bronzong
-Heatran
-Aegislash
-Scizor
-Empoleon

But M-Luc isn't with us anymore, and bisharp can act as the Tank for dark, same with mawile.

Don't ever forgo rocks. That's dumb as fuck. Defog is a good chice even if you use Rocks, but not using entry hazards is playing at a disadventage.

Also the only thing Thundurus T does better than Thundurus I is the Agility set. For everything else, use Thundy I.

The thundy-I thin was a planned change, but I was unsure in the case of what you imputted with which of these things seemed best:

I'm mostly worried about slightly about my weakness spreading.

Because without 6th pokemon, I'm looking at:
Dark: 2 Weak, no Resist
Ghost: 2 Weak, no Resist

Of which:

Latias would exacerbate dark and ghost
Keldeo would help resolve dark slightly
Sylveon would help resolve dark
Heatran doesn't change much
Thundurus-I doesn't change much

They all fill in doing similar or slightly different things than what M-Luc did, I'm just really indecisive on what it does for the team as a whole (or if the team needs a bit more defense or offense more)

Also, thanks for the full build for sylveon, I had one EV'd, IV'd, and egg/tutor moved, just didn't know what the last move was supposed to be.

I dunno, it looks "standard low ladder" to me. Don't know what really makes it different to higher ladder teams. I'd consider using Wish Chansey, since Ferrothron, Dragonite and Rotom benefit a lot from it. You have no defog or Rapid Spin. I'd replace Ferrothorn for Skarmory for that.
Other than that it should be fine. No real synergy issues, no pokes other than Thundy 6-0 you but you can deal with it.
Btw Iron Head is the most pointless move ever on Mawile. Use Knock Off.

I think that team benefits strongly from replacing Gliscor with Mandibuzz, but then you're kinda weak as fuck to Heatran. Shit like SubToxic Heatran would just 6-0 you. If you're gonna swap Gliscor with Mandibuzz, make sure the poke you add as toge's replacement can actually deal with the tran.
I'd try Keldeo. It's a really good pokemon to have. Helps with the Bisharp, TTar and Lando issues too.

I'd use Bold on Chansey to get as much physical bulk as possible while still not taking relevant amounts of damage from special attacks. If you want to outspeed Thundurus with Talonflame you don't need Jolly, just run 0 HP like most people.

Double Hit does 85ish BP after each hit + Techician. Aerial Ace gets a boost as well. Since you're playing it bulky, Roost might be an option as well. X-Scissor is great, but Bug Bite/U-Turn have their advantages to.

Your weakness right now are Ice, Fairy, and Fire (although Fire can have Goodra switch in on it).

Protean Greninja is VERY popular right now. This means there may be alot of counters for it as well. Blaziken stops Talonflame from sweeping (but gives you another Poke weak to Fairy type). Mold Breaker Excadrill can really screw with some people, but its another ice type weakness.

What Pokemon would be the worse thing for Scizor/Goodra to fight? Work out what trumps that, then what it woudln't want to fight, then add another member who can beat that. Try and get a nice ring of co-depedency.

Also, look on the Smogon Forums XY OU. Those are the Pokemon you'll be seeing a lot of. Be prepared.

At the end Baton Pass support never goes wrong (Passing Defence boosts, Offence, Speed, or Wish)

Bug bite straight out beats X-Scissor for Scizor, since it has higher BP and can steal berries as well as secondary effect.

The real question is between U-Turn (for tempo) and Bug Bite (For more power).

Further, he'd probably benefit from dumping Atk for more HP. Swords Dance will make up for the losses.

Scizor also resists Fairy and Ice, meaning the two together work for a decent core, and he could use a physically defensive sylveon to round out the core. Also note that blaziken is NOT weak to fairy, as the fire neutralizes that weakness.

Also, Excadrill is not weak to Ice, because >Steel.

If going for bulky scizor, he'd probably best benefit from having:
236 HP/44 Atk/228 Spec Def
-U-Turn/Bug Bite
-Swords Dance/Defog
-Roost
-Bullet Punch

Excadrill would be a decent addition to the team, being able to spin (so you don't have to defog), while dealing with Rotoms (which handle scizor) and setting rocks itself.

Round out with a Cleric sylveon and it should be alright.

Then that leaves two slots to fill in for a special sweeper and probably another physical tank. Rotom-H or W would work to deal with other rotoms as well as T-Flame.

Mega Pinsir has really held the team together though and gotten me through some tight spots. So please, talk to me.

Also I'll still take any tips for keeping calm during competitive battling, it feels like the whole world is on my shoulders when they're supposed to be casual fun matches. I keep telling myself a game but my competitiveness and perfectionism gets in the way and I just start to freak out hard and it leads to stupid mistakes on my end. Thanks.

I know it takes more than six random sets, but I'm not totally sure about the process. I get that you want to avoid huge type weaknesses, being too physically/specially focused, and that you need good team synergy, but I'm pretty much at a loss about how to make that happen.

Even with no investment, Hawlucha has no problem outspeeding the majority of the metagame (save for a few unorthodox choice scarfers and Talonflame). It's best as a late game sweeper, but I've also led and swept with it if the opponent is lacking in priority or hard counters.

Scald/Rapid spin and two filler moves, like Toxic/Knock off/Ice beam/Toxic spikes/Sludge bomb. Its stats are more specially defensive but investing in defense works too. Aqua ring usually isn't worth it because you won't stay in long enough for it to be worth the moveslot, although it'd enjoy the recovery. Feel free to try by all means but other options are usually better.

Slowking is more on the specially defensive side, which makes it less apt due to its typing. Shadow Ball and Tbolt are too popular coverage moves, not to mention grass types. The metagame is also tipped towards having more good physical rather than special attackers.

Glicko. It's for weighted usage stats, so the tiers are more accurate and they're based on the most viable pokes instead of the most popular ones.
Since you have to get a rather average rating so your pokes count, bad players, newfriends, showderp and people spamming silly shit for laughs it wont count those pokes officially. So if you hate, let's say, Suicune, and want it out of UU, playing a million battles with it wont be enough to bump it out of the tier.

Yeah but if you wanted to bump it to OU on your own you'd not only need to battle a million times with it, but win a bunch as well, so you'd need loads of free time and skill.

But it mostly keeps shitmons such as Donphan or Galvantula in the tier they belong.

I think Lando I or Thundurus could work on that slot. I mean, they're usually safe as fuck choices, and Thundurus gives you another Keldeo check which could be a huge issue for that team, since Venusaur in the sand getting Scald burned would make it a bad counter and Keldeo could grab a kill every time it comes in after that.
I'd use taunt np, that way you can beat BP and also have a pretty good matchup vs defensive teams.

Well, yes, you have no entry hazard removal.
You have one of the best spinners, so use it.
I believe it's a waste to use Aegislash with no Shadow Ball but the thing is so good it could even work.
Infernape is kinda bad, I can't see it doing much for that team.
You have no set up sweepers so I'd consider cm or Rock Polish Lando.

Dragon attacks especially unSTABed suck because it has zero coverage.

The standard set is full SpA quiet, Shadow Ball - King's Shield - Shadow Sneak - coverage (Iron Head - Flash Cannon - Sacred Sword - Head Smash (only for real)), and some attack number I dunno, then the rest in HP. It's usually like 24 attack or something low like that.

Encore basically gives you a free switch into something when used right and you can use that free turn to set up a sweep etc. Encore someone into a status move - get a mon immune to it in and set up. Encore someone into a setup move or a coverage move or anything you want to switch into.
In gsc encore is great for example because it burns alot pp for stuff like Curse, Heal Bell, Eq (on jumpluff especially) and lets you set up long term win conditions
