I don't want to have to go through infiltrating bases and stopping crimes the police could be stopping THE SAME WAY every time I play the game. Sometimes I'd just like to have a straight up adventure.

Instead of gym badges indicating what level of pokemon will listen to you, they restrict how high you can level your pokemon.

Lets say before the 1st gym your pokemon can only get up to about level 10. Once you beat the first gym leader suddenly pokemon can be leveled up to level 20 or so (however the pacing goes for that game). This way you cant just power level to beat gym leaders, and gym leaders can become much more challenging by having certain evolved pokemon that you dont have access to and can be a few levels higher then your team.

The levels are for traded pokemon, not your own.

Your idea would affect both, therefore it's shit.

My idea is to add difficulty to the gym leaders. Everyone wants gym leaders to be stronger, but even if you made their levels higher, anyone can just grind and over power them easily. If gym badges restrict how high you can level suddenly you have to work with what you have, while a gym leader could have a pokemon 5 levels higher then yours, or a pokemon that has evolved that you cant obtain because its above the level you can currently grind up too. And it stops the whole traded mons leveling up to fast, the same as pokemon not listening to you.
