>>19076819yeah I've never had troubles with the level curve honestly. One might think that to challenge Red you have to grind extensively but his team can be defeated easily with a team 20 levels below his. Also I suppose that one reason for the strange level curve is that after Goldenrod you can technically go wherever the fuck you want, so if they put Trainers or Pokémon with way higher levels let's say on the way to Mahogany, they probably had to prevent you from going there before the Olivine/Cianwood quest. Not to mention that once in Kanto you have 100% total freedom, so that's another reason why they should have put limitations to the courses to increase the level.
And honestly I liked how much freedom I had in the first two gens compared to the "you can't go there because of a blackout" or bullshit like this that happens in some of the subsequent gens.
