Usually you want to get behind leech seed and a sub before cursing, but a curse at full health will leave it at 75 percent due to the berry and is an easy counter to baton pass teams. Having a sub up nets a free drain from curse/leech seed and if you protect at the same time you'll be putting any mon below half hp every turn.
