exactly because charizard needs more attention after being in the last smash brother game, being a standalone character in the new smash game, being the main focus of the pokemon origins anime, having the most well known pokemon card, and being given two mega evolutions for no reason when most starter pokemon don't even have one.

I think there wouldn't be more than 40 fighters. They'll be things like Pikachu, Meowth, Lucario, Blaziken, Greninja... All the popular ones that are (or can be) bipedal. Just because things like Hypno are bipedal (and have their own perfect gimmick for a fighting game) doesn't mean they'd be put in ;~;

The average fighting game has like 20-50 characters at best

Even UMarvel 3 only has 36, Brawl has 35, USF4 only has like 40, Naruto's latest one only has 40.

They'd probably do like 50-100. They'll add more with each new iteration of the game.

If they're smart, they'll use the same engine for each one, and have shit tons of DLC, and appeal to the Fighting Game crowd instead of the Pokemon crowd of little babby kids.

Kind of wish ArcSys were doing something like this. Xrd looks gorgeous and perfectly replicates the feel of sprites with that cel shading. Would be nice, but oh well, and they have a lot on their plate right now.

I'll admit I like the idea of assists more than the rest of the actual game, yeah. Assists are a cool thing that can work if done right, and they'd be a perfect fit for Pokemon. Just forget about the 10 hour combos, X-Factor, Zero, Vergil, etc.
