Do you really think they would pass up on one of Ash's most popular pokemon making another reappearance and getting a mega evolution? I like heracross, but I think we'll see Charizard Y for Ash.

The rule only says you can only mega evolve once per battle. It doesn't say anywhere that you can't have multiple Pokemon that carry a mega stone.
Also, in the games, the protagonist and rival both get the Mega Ring.
