With Mega evos they basically threw away the whole 'three evo stages max' model - there was nothing in the history of previous games that suggested it.
So let's stick to:

>not making sense Personally, I think that Gallade has nothing going for him that makes use of his Psychic typing, as this type is absolutely terrible for physical attackers. Whereas Fairy + Pixilate would give him a nice advantage on the battlefield, along with making it much easier to balance him out with Gardevoir.
Besides, making Gallade's current typing usable would require new abilities to be invented just for him - something that GF most certainly is not going to do.
