I like the Grass type and I sorely miss Ivysaur and smash (due to the Bulbasaur line being my favorite starter family).

However, you'd have to be stupid to think that Sceptile is getting into Smash. This is strictly popularity based and Sceptile isn't loved nearly as much as Blaziken is.

Sceptile is one of the more popular pokemon, largely because it's a starter and not shit like meganium. If greninja got in, I don't see why sceptile couldn't, except for the reason that there's enough pokemon in the limited roster space already.

I don't think so, Sceptile had a really good bunch of popularity back in Hoenn. Ash even used him as his only starter from the Hoenn region. And with Greninja & Charizard repping X/Y alpng with Water & Fire starters (Greninja replacing Squirtle sort of). It make sense to give ORAS some sort of representative, the only feasible one really is Sceptile. Especially since ORAS will be coming out around the same time or a little before SSB4WU.

Greninja is probably the most popular Pokemon from gen 6.

Wii fit trainer got in because the game sold well and the wii. Same with Punch out on the wii.

WFT and G&W are important to Nintendo's history in their own way. Sceptile is one of three in one pokemon generation and "muh patterns" don't mean shit in the eyes of kids that prefer their stupid KFC fighter to a Gecko with a spruce for a tail. Blaziken isn't even likely due to it rehashing fire moves.

If we get anything else, it's gonna be more genwunner shit like Jiggs and Mewtwo. Jiggs is a definite but Mewtwo is definitely more likely than Sceptile if we get another pokemon at all.

Something tells me they were implementing him in Smash before X and Y were even out. His popular was at least partially manufactured, like Pikachu. Who's to say they can't put Sceptile in everybody's face until Smash is released to raise opinion? Giving him new official art with a better pose will definitely help that.

The thing is they probably would have given Sceptile a mega already or at least given it something new this gen. The only reason anybody says Sceptile is going to be in is because Fire/Water/Grass.

Also the fact that he's perfect advertisment for OR/AS and it's about 95% likely that both him & Swampert will be getting Megas, more than likely in a month at E3, where they'll likely show the first trailer.

If they were to include Sceptile it'll be an unlockable character confirmed after the game comes out. I doubt the next character reveal for Smash Bros will be another Pokémon.

SSB3DS is out in Summer, SSBWU doesn't come out until Winter. Ntm we have one or two CoroCoro AND E3 between now and SSB3DS. I'd say that right now, Sceptile's chances are just as good as Mewtwo's at this point.

Sceptile would be in-between Greninja & Charizard imo. Speedy but not as fast as Greninja and would have some good smash moves.
