People seem to be under the impression that Mega Evolutions will not be in the remakes/sequels because they're only native to Kalos.

Something that I think everyone is forgetting is that Mega Latios and Mega Latias are a thing.
The only way to obtain the mega stones is through hacking, but I am almost 100% sure that we will get each one respectively for the new games.

You can make it easier on yourself by just calling those people idiots.

Like, it's already pretty obvious that Kyogre and Groudon are getting megas at the very least. Then everyone around these parts is bringing up how Sceptile, Swampert, Minum, and Plusle were all trademarked as megas with the others

Personally I don't think they'll be sequels since FR/LG and HG/SS weren't. The regular games will play out with whatever small changes, and then they'll add the new stuff in once the story is over.

Not only that, but Blazikenite is currently the only officially released Mega Stone that is not obtainable in the Kalos region, now it will be available in Hoenn. My bet is that Steven will give you Sceptilite/Blazikenite/Swampertite in the Dewford Cave as a reward for delivering the letter to him. I mean Steven is a maniac when it comes to rare stones.

They'll probably implement mega evolutions in some way given the amount of Hoenn natives with megas, but the fact that lati@site are the only unused megastones in the game's code makes me think they won't introduce any new mega evolutions in OR/AS. Of course, I'm not saying it's impossible. It just seems unlikely. Unless they plan on implementing full backwards compatibility between the games, which means releasing major online patches for X/Y, which we all know Nintendo isn't known for doing.

But that isn't a bad thing. It's a remake (probably) so it ought to stay as close to the original as possible, so mega evolution would throw a wrench in that plan.
Afterwards, however, them game creators get free reign.

There will be no new mega evolutions in ORAS. Megas will be like new pokemon and only come up every new gen. We got all the gen 3 megas in XY.

But Lati@site will have it's first official appearance in the remakes. That's why it's in XY right now, so it wouldn't have to be retconned into the game.

This seems like the most logical thing in my opinion, anyway. Everyone, including myself, would love to see new megas but it just doesn't seem likely to happen.

How so?
Megas are new, a 'pattern' has yet to be made. Plus they're more like formes than evolutions.

Because remakes have always been compatible to trade and battle with games within the gen. If new megas were released, GF would have to put in some extra effort to make them compatible.

Those were two things that made the game nearly unplayable and they were both pretty close to when the game was just released so they were basically forced to if they knew what was good for them.

I think you're over exaggerating here.
The lumiose save bug was only in certain parts of lumiose and the battle analyzer was only a thing in wifi.
They hardly made it unplayable.

Because that was fucking impossible, those games could not be patched.

Meanwhile GF has shown willingness to patch XY when required. Not just to fix a game breaking bug, but also to stop people seeing eggs stats

DS Games were run entirely from gamecards which are unmodified.
3DS games put some data on your 3ds (such as saves), when you download a patch that is also stored on your 3ds

I think they pretty much have to add megas for Sceptile and Swampert, simply because Blaziken has one. Otherwise they run the problem of players missing out on a free mega simply because they picked the "wrong" starter.

but seriously they must add the megas, and they probably are gonna patch XY to make them compatible. less obligatory than mega starters, but the beldum steven gives you should hold metagrossite (just like diantha ralts)

They might be there to promote the R/S remakes. I'm also open to the idea of more being added in an upcoming patch because X and Y do seem rushed. Less than 30 sounds ridiculous if you ask me. Not putting them all on the cartridge at once might have saved them a few months.

They've started bucking that trend though. Last time we ever had a proper "third version" was way back in Gen IV. Also, FR/LG and HG/SS were never paired up with one while 5th gen had the sequel curve-balls thrown at us.
