Actually i think the reason there is no mega Swampert, it's b\c Gen 7 would only include 151 Pokèmon. But the Mudkip line is not one of these sadly.

All the rest (I.E. Weepinbell, Exeggcute) were retconned by some action by the rival, which is actually the chosen one. (unless you're the rival I.E. the playable character does not wear an hat and this chosen one wears the hat and has the pokemon weak to yours)
Gen 8 will be Gen 7's sequel, introducing 100 Pokèmon between completely new additions, and returning Pokèmon from previous gens. One of them might _might_ just be Mudkip with evos.
Gen 9 will be Gen 8's sequel, and introduce 135 new - and seminew - Pokèmon.
Gen 10 will be Gen 9's sequel, and introduce 107 Pokèmon between fully new and "seminew".
(Gen 7 released in 2015 but set in 2005 concurrent with BW1)
(Gen 8 released in late 2016 but set in 2009)
(Gen 9 released in 2018 but set in 2013)
(Gen 10 released in early 2020 but set in 2018, concurrent with Colosseum)
