This was more or less my base in Gen III. I remember the team I had when you battled me was Donphan/Azumarill/Pikachu/Sceptile/Swalot/Pelipper, all roughly level 70, with Pikachu's moveset being Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave and Double Team.
I seriously they keep the battles for exp. feature in.

I felt so proud of myself when I got that Pidgeot statue. The room on the right is a dining room/computer room with my PC and a table and chairs for visitors, while the room on the left is the battling room, so not much is there other than a tent that challenging players will enter and a few plants.

It's been years since I did this (and I'm pretty sure my Ruby version's been wiped by now), but mine was something like pic related.

It was on Route 119, just before Fortree City, and I tried to set it up as a kind of unofficial gym. On the left was where (kid me pretended) I'd take on challengers, while on the right was where I slept: I had a tent and a TV and it was super cozy.

As much as I like BW and XY, I wholly agree with this. Kalos is cool but WAY too developed. I loved going through some of the more nature-ish areas because it reminded me of RSE. Pinwheel forest was very scenic and reminded me of my own woods as a kid, and they could do so much more with the new graphical capabilities. I'm excited for ORAS because of this.

I wonder if graphics kind of effects our perception though? Lower camera angles and larger player characters make the same amount of tiles feel "smaller" than if you were playing a flatter game. Sort of an "overworld vs in town" effect in standard rpgs.

They kind of let you do this in DP. All secret bases were the same shape, just full of rocks. You could remove rocks the more flags you stole from other peoples bases. They were still unsightly though.

Exceeds 16 and I didn't have all the furnitute here, but more or less I'd usually choose this shape for my secret base and place the tent on the left side as a small tunnel to a small room.
