So let me get this straight, the development time for ORAS is only a little over a year?

Even for a remake that seems short. It makes me worried that these games were focused onto GF by Nintendo as a fast cash grab.

I hope not, GF does a good job at keep their games "pure." However Nintendo loves to bastardize their major titles (Mario and Zelda)

There are two parallel teams that work on games simultaneously. B/W and HG/SS were being worked on simultaneously for example.

Are you legitimately retarded?

There are two teams at GameFreak, one that works on the upcoming generation and another that works on any other games released in the current generation

X&Y started development right after BW was released and ORAS was most likely in development the same amount of time or around the time X&Y were announced

You didn't actually think development starts as soon as the game is announced..did you?

Pretty much this. XY took 3 and a half years to make, but that also includes upgrading the engine to the 3DS (Which would take a longass time), modeling every Pokemon and the attacks, designing the world, designing new Pokemon, designing new attacks, NPC placement, Pokemon team balancing for NPCs, item placement, BALANCING all that and figuring out the Fairy type, online implementation, bug testing, etc.

You have two teams working: the main team that works on the generation starter, and the secondary one that works on remakes/new versions of the game and adding new content. BW2 came out in June 2012, and more then likely development started around that time parallel to XY.

Look at it this way: the engine, balancing, moves, nearly all of the 3D models, and whatnot are done. The design portion is easier since you have a base to work off of (Hoenn) so all you need to do is re-create it and modify what you need to instead of doing it from scratch. You would really only need to create new assets for the world, unique NPC trainers, anything unique in the UI, anything to recreate textures from the originals, and any new forms/mega forms of Pokemon that they are going to add.

It will be fine.

yeah it's a shame the same can't be said about the other 10 mario games that came out last year.

Also skyward sword sucked, groose was the only thing that kept me playing
