>>19117542>>19117278In my opinion, BW was the worst entry into the franchise of all time. That said, I didn't even bother buying BW2, so maybe I'm missing out on some stuff there. Let's see, though.
Starters were some of the worst of all time, both competitively and aesthetically (didn't mind serperior too much, though. Seriously introduced a THIRD fire/fighting starter (the worst of all 3 by far) and two more boring, forgettable monos.
Additionally, you were FORCED to use strictly gen 5 pokemon until the postgame. This was a terrible decision because a huge part of the game's draw is its ability to evoke nostalgia in people who have been playing since RBY.
The worst part about that was that the entire generation's pokemon were by and large absolutely terrible. You had utter monstrosities like stunfisk, cryogonal and the ice cream evos. You had the most useless, boring regional bird since gen 2 (staraptor got CC and talonflame is better in design and viability). You had things that felt like ripoffs of gen 1 paradigms. (the blue/red karate duo and original hitmons, jellicent/tentacruel, conkeldurr/machamp, bouffalant/tauros). And those fucking monkeys, do not even get me started. Not to mention that kyurem is easily the most hideous legendary of all time. I think the only ones that I liked were haxorus, sawsbuck, volcarona and mienshao.
I hear that a lot of people thought the plot was a step up, but it's still a shallow kid's game. If you want plot, go read a book. N was a weak, naive kid. The head of plasma was weak, powerhungry manchild with godawful design. Alder was a spastic manchild. Zero redeemable characters whatsoever.
Plus, on top of that, you had all kinds of awful gameplay decisions. Hidden abilities made breeding harder and consequently rewarded people for hacking perfect eggmove HA mons. Black city literally broke if you adjusted your game's clock. The generation absolutely flooded the meta with ugly, overpowered legendaries. Hated it.
