How it works is there were stats for beauty, coolness, smartness and whatnot. Your goal was to try to wow the crowd with your pokemon's coolness or beauty or whatever. You pokemon's moves took on properties tied to these stats. You take turns using your moves with certain moves having effects like startling the other pokemon from performing on the next turn.
After spending countless hours grinding and battling the last thing I wanted to do to blow steam was grind and battle again in a god damn beauty pageant.
I guess some people actually liked this shit. But then again, some people seriously like poke studios.
