Will it get removed, heavily reworked (to be less casino-like) or replaced with something completely different?

Likely it'll be repurposed into some new contest/battle location that is closed until post-game. They'll have to merge the Poke Marts with the Poke Centers too though, so there may be some odd map changes to the cities and towns.

What if it allowed you to scan any sort of QR code (possibly even regular barcodes), and it generated teams based on that?

Wouldn't necessarily be good teams, but it would be a really interesting idea, and would probably be absolutely amazing for kids/casual players.
