I'm going to bet that they'll include AZ in the Regi backstory. Considering he had 3000 years to roam around, it's not hard to think he didn't take a trip to ancient Hoenn and maybe help out with building the Regis.
Yes, these are remakes, but GF tends to spruce up their remakes so I'm sure they'll add something.
