Will we ever get a non-linear Pokemon game? Open up those ocean routes and let us surf to our hearts content. Most gyms have to be done in order but some can be switched around. If you're afraid of higher level pokemon/trainers don't go directly to the end game routes. Honestly that bit of water between Dewford, Slateport, and your home town should be fully explorable. We only need outside borders to keep us in the map. Get rid of those fucking inside borders.

In XY routes were considerably smaller and had less exploration than BW2.

Hopefully it works out since Hoenn was made on old hardware.

XY lost a few points with me for that. I really enjoyed exploring in the older games, but in the newer ones it feels rushed between each city. I want to fucking have an adventure, damn it.

No. I think it will be made as true to the originals as possible, with only cosmetic and technical changes made in order to iron out things that don't end up looking right in the new engine. The only new things will be added features like the Safari Zone in HGSS. That's what they did with FRLG and HGSS, it's what they'll do with ORAS. Altering the layout of routes defeats the purpose of remaking the game.

I'd be fine with this. They've practically confirmed in-universe that gym leaders hold back on people with less badges.
