I'm pretty sure that this has been mentioned before, but can we talk about this? It's obvious that The Omega and Alpha will have something to due with the change in appearance.

From looking at the Japanese logo, we can see a small ruby or small sapphire with the corresponding symbol. While possibly just an aesthetic piece, it happens to be in the same location as the mega evolution symbol on the japanese logo.
