Mega starters are possible. Swampert and Sceptile have a lot of fans, it would make sense.
I just hope they use Wally to show off Mega Gallade, assuming he uses a Dawn Stone in this remake.
On top of that there are already quite a few Gen 3 Megas, I wouldn't be surprised if they started on Gen 4 and 5 instead
