Everyone is going crazy with new mega speculation for Hoenn mons, but..

# of megas per gen currently:
Kanto: 10
Johto: 5
Hoenn: 9
Sinnoh: 3

I doubt they'd let one generation have so many more megas than the rest, it's already right behind genwun. What if we just get a mix of each gen like normal apart from the likely legends/starters?

well people keep thinking Hoenn pokemon are the ones just getting megas but i think some of the pokemon in the local hoenn dex could get megas

Golduck
Weezing
crobat etc etc

even gallade Dusknoir Frosslass and Roserade has a chance of getting mega

We'll get a mix of Pokemon from the 202 Hoenn natives and their evolutions in Gen 4.

Unova and Kalos are still not going to get Megas, and you're going to like it.

kanto has 10, but 4 of them are starter megas, which is safe to asume the other generations will have. while hoenn has only 1 starter mega, therefore having 8 normalmon megas, while kanto has 6, johto 5 and sinnoh 3. so i think most megas we'll see in the remakes (assuming they introduce new ones) are going to be from non-hoenn mons.
i think only hoenn megas will be metagross, swampert, sceptile and milotic and the main trio
gallade and dragonite probably will get a mega, maybe starters from other gens
other candidats are luxray, weavile, mismagius, crobat, machamp, golem, marowak, kingdra, steelix, snorlax

I suspect the reason for the lower number of Kanto Megas outside of the starters has something to do with the number of Kanto Pokemon that received cross-gen evolutions.

yeah i though so too, but johto also has a fair number of cross gen evolutions. still i could see snorlax, lapras, tauros having a mega. also scyther as i see scizor as a different form of scyther but it's counted as an evolution so it wont happen

Salamence is also a good candidate, since it's also a pseudo like Metagross, and its other fellow pseudeos Garchomp and Tyranitar also received Megas.

I think there's gonna be starters, legends, Gallade to be a Hoenn counterpart to Gardevoir, Froslass because its pre-evo is native to Hoenn, and probably mix and match from any other region. Oh, I forgot the Hoenn pseudos: Metagross Salamence and hopefully Flygon.

Metagross and Salamence will get version exclusive mega stones. M-metagross will still be largely shit, while M-salamence will be geared for doubles.

Hydreigon and Dragonite will follow in Z/XY. No new megas will be added in gen VII
