The current metagame is way too focused on moves with secondary effects. According to my understanding, things went like this:
Gen V - a lot of absurdly offensive behemoths were added. The metagame became extremely offensive-oriented.
Gen VI - instead of recognizing this mistake and nerfing some gen V pokemon's stats, game freak fixes the problem by nerfing the most common offensive moves: most moves with 95 base power are changed to 90, 120 are changed to 110, and etc.
Now moves like discharge, lava plume and specially scald (oh my God, how I hate this one! How could they nerf surf and keep this untouched?) dominate the metagame. Which I find pretty annoying, because you depend upon luck more than never.
What do you guys think?
