So far, every remake has been made in 5 year increments, so DPPt will likely come out around 2019. The Red and Blue/Green remakes will be an exception because of their anniversary.

I'd rather D/P remakes. I skipped to Platinum, and unlike R/S (where I also skipped straight to Emerald) I never went back to give them a proper try. I was advised not to, because D/P are supposedly not that good, largely because of things that aren't inherent in the region or design but are instead a matter of poor execution. Kanto was limited in design, in part because of technical specs but also because Game Freak hadn't figured out how to make Pokémon interesting beyond the basic concept, and Gen3-era remakes on the more advanced Game Boy Advance didn't help much. Johto was like Sinnoh, in that its problems were in much larger part a matter of execution, and look at how much better HG/SS was. What I'm saying is, there's three types of Pokémon games. Shitty games that can't be helped no matter how many times they're remade, like Generation 1. Decent but flawed games that are much better on remaking, like Generation 2 and Generation 4, and probably Generation 3. We'll see which of these two Generation 6 is after we get Z. And then there's absolute Arceusdamn masterpieces that neither need nor want remakes, because remakes would almost certainly be worse than the originals, by which I mean Generation 5.

Because "Gotta catch 'em all" extends out of the game world and into our own lives, only with the games. Some of us are content just catching one forme of each, say Red/Gold/Sapphire/FireRed/Pearl/HeartGold/Black/Black2/Y/AlphaSapphire, others of us want to really go out and catch ALL of 'em all like true fans, but remakes are still $40 US plus tax for a game we already sort of played before.

It hasn't really, it's just harder. There's absolutely no way to connect with Red & Blue and Gold & Silver, but you can still go to lengths to transfer from Gen III to Gen VI

Stuff like that. But you couldn't trade a Swampert to Gen I because no Sprite would exist for it. You can trade your Charizard to Sinnoh and then back to Kanto though.

Mega Evolutions would only work Gen VI and Beyond because >no sprites

I actually had a idea like that. Mine went like this:

Will never happen, gen1-2 games are broken as shit and the gen3 games would lose their trading so having them on 3ds would be pointless, aside from the fact that they can, and will, remake them for fullprice.

HGSS didn't fix a lot of the problems in execution that GSC had. DPPt had engine problems and some slight other problems (that were mostly resolved int Pt), so a remake would do them much better than it did for GSC.

Also, Generation 1 remakes are some of the best in the series (probably 5th place pairing) because gen 1's issues were with balance (which was fixed by typing changes) and engine fixes.

Gen 3's main issue is lacking balance brought by later generations. If it wasn't for poorly aged graphics and the lack of physical special split, gen 3 probably would still be best in franchise.

Gen 5 will likely need the remakes eventually, but they'll still be good going back to them.

No, but Pokémon World, a 3D RPG for the Wii U featuring all 7 known trainer regions (including Orre, not including Pokémon Ranger regions) where you choose which region to start in and can travel through every subsequent region (Orre can't be started in since their's no gyms, but when arriving in Orre you receive an Eevee). Also it has a huge host of Stadium-style mini games. That would help. The 3DS doesn't need help, it's Nintendo's money maker. The Wii U needs help.
