It's fun. I have fun playing pokemon.
Even just the little things, like berry farming, or breeding. I liked the underground and poffin making, and the pokeathalon.
To be honest I don't really care for battling. It's fun sometimes, but competitive has no appeal for me.

Biology and world building, most rpg series would eventually forsake it for variety. Pokemon ignores this trend and keeps building up regardless of some people calling it rehash.

The fun imposed challenges.

A new one I made up is going to be the single biggest ballbuster ever designed yet. My masochist side is going to love it.

It'll be like playing X-COM on the highest difficulty. And I am going to enjoy every moment of it.

I already did a run where I couldn't heal at all, and had to keep the entire team constantly at the same level. Team Flare's hideout was the hardest segment in a Pokemon game I ever played. But I still succeeded.

This will ensure it's gonna be a ride.

Playing through the games and enjoying the story and adventure, the same reason I still play other games I enjoy like Zelda, etc.

I'm out of the competitive side of Pokemon, it turned me away for a few years, rather than keeping me coming back. Because, let's face it, it just ruins the fun after a while. Most of us realize that after playing for a long time.

It's where, not only do you complete the National Dex, but you have one of every Pokemon inside your PC Boxes. So you have the National Dex inside your PC.

Until Gen 6, it was the most autistic thing you could attempt in Pokémon. However, with Bank, you can build a living Dex, and then transfer it to future games, never needing to beat the Dex again.
