I just completed my National Pokédex and I'm looking to tip my toes into competitive battling for the first time.

What I did was:

-Make a list of your favorite pokemon.
-Choose the ones that are most viable out of them.
-From that list, choose one that you'll build your team around (preferably, the other pokemon on your list can fill your needed roles).

From that point, asking people for good teammate recommendations is easy.

From my understanding it's based on use percentage. Hence the tiers being over used, under used, rarely used and so on. Then the uber tier is most legendarys and things that smoogen deems over powered. They're just a guideline in my opinion. Having a team of ou pokemon isn't going to guarantee a win if you don't know what you're doing.

Have you considered Bulk up Scrafty, possibly with Shed skin? Since Scrafty is slow as shit it needs like 2 boosts to outspeed fast things and 3 boosts or so to outspeed scarfers, while the lack of HP investment really cuts down on its bulk. It's been a while since I last tried using though.
Bite is pretty useless on Crobat, your STAB hits everything for ar least as much damage. I know Crobat doesn't really have much in that department but I guess you could slap on Super fang or Sleep talk or Roost or something as a filler move, even with a band. I usually see either defensive Cofag or offensive Trick room Cofag, you could give those a try. Energy ball isn't common but I guess it hits some key targets. Dark pulse on Chandelure is not useful, it hits almost the same things as Shadow ball just weaker. Use Trick so you can cripple Florges/Umbreon/something if you get it right. You should also probably put Rapid spin on MBlastoise, spinning is always useful and it's a good spinner. Scald, while a bit weaker than launcher Water pulse, has a far better secondary effect so you can try that. Also while there's nothing wrong with two scarfers, is there any specifc reason you have two?

Chandelure is scarfed because he already hits hard and originally I only had cofag as a special attacker. Flygon is a revenge with STAB EQ and outrage it can take out most thins, but i guess you're right, I am a little choice heavy on this team. You're right. I'm seriously considering myself at the point of top cutting VGC Nationals and I still have Protect over Detect on my Scrafty because it's easier to teach. It's a miniscule improvement, but even something like that is worth considering if you're really trying and have the option.

Focusing on Scrafty.

Jolly instead of Adamant. It'll outspeed positive base 111s at +1.
Replace leftovers with a Lum Berry, or switch Moxie to Shed Skin. It's fun to DD to +3 or more when something tries to come in and burn only for you to shed it off.
Replace Crunch with Knock Off if you're only using showdown.
Possibly replace Ice Punch with Poison Jab if fairies are a problem.

As for me, I don't know where to go from here. I've got a 6iv naive DD/mixed Salamence with intimidate sitting in storage but I'm not sure if it'll fit in.

Balanced teams are the hardest teams to build. You need to split up the offence and defence into at most half of a full HO/stall team and take into account both offence and defensive threats. They're also some of the most successful teams though.

Try building around a core and find check and counters to threats as you go. I find this is the easiest way to go about it.

Double status Rotom-H is a surprisingly effective defensive pivot, in my opinion. He can burn and paralyze threats as well as absorb burn and paralysis aimed at your sweepers.

I've been running bulky M-Scizor as a defogger, but it becomes dead weight when the opponent has no hazards. As I also lack a good answer for M-Venusaur (I currently have SDef Mew but it can't 2HKO after Leech Seed), I decided to change the mega to default M-Pinsir. On the other hand, it makes the team rather weak to hazards, so a defogger/spinner becomes a must.
Team is Pinsir mega/Rotom-H (trickspecs + twave) /Sylveon Specs/Landorus-I special-based/Conkeldurr AV'd, so it must also check water-types. I narrowed it down to Tentacruel (spin), Empoleon (sr/defog) and Latias. Which would work better?

Try this:
Latias @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/6 SAtk/252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Wish
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock

You can move some speed EVs to SAtk (240 speed is enough to outpace musketeers, but you lose to other Lati (LO Psyshock from Latios break your Sylveon before it can HV), and taking from HP kills your wishes), but be aware that even 252 SAtk won't OHKO Terrakion/Keldeo without boosting item

Take EQ on Pinsir over CC. With CC you don't get hard walled by Skarm/Rotom but without EQ you get hard walled by Aegislash. I'd much rather give Skarm/Rotom a free turn than I would Aegislash.

I'm not sure what the standard Sylveon is but
252 Atk Terrakion Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon: 164-194 (41.6 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Also X-Scissor is better
252 Atk Terrakion X-Scissor vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Latios: 210-248 (69.5 - 82.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

If you're going CM on Reuniclus Bold 252 Def is the only way to go. Also consider running Focus Blast + Shadow Ball. Even though you lack a STAB without Focus Miss you're set up fodder for Bisharp.

Porygon2 isn't there to tank everything, just motherfuckers like Dragonite, Garchomp, Gyarados, etc..., picking his spots and just murdering, hell, he can toxic stall Mega Charizard X until a crit happens.

Aegislash isn't exactly a problem on this team though, like I said before, Swampert, Terrakion and Reuniclus can deal with him when healthy or revenge kill him. Close Combat lets me sweep hard on motherfuckers, more than EQ.

I haven't even clicked on Poison Jab once so I'll probably do that.

200 Def has taken care of everything I've needed, I prefer to run more SpD because Reuniclus's point in this team is to deal with Psychic types/Venusaur for Terrakion to go ham or to beat Rotom 1 on 1.

Originally I just wanted to make a team where Swampert could shine by doing Stealth Rock and Roar, Magnezone and Porygon2 deal with overall threats to sweeps while Pinsir, Reuniclus and specially Terrakion outmuscle the other team.

I've used Gourgeist and Rotom-H in the past so sounds like a good suggestion. If only there were an easy way to surprise the asshole with Safety Goggles then proceed to OHKO it in Battle Spot, but Focus Sash just might make them switch to save that Spore for a slower Pokemon on my side later or for a strong Mach Punch finisher.

Usually a Ghost-type on a team will flush out my Thundurus as a lead. T-Wave, Swag, V-Switch into Genesect. After that it's two moves before the thing dies, which should be easy considering hax and defence investment.

Haven't done the math, but there is a negligable chance of Gengar completing all three moves, with the swag and waves and all. Besides, that's why I put Leftovers and pretty impressive bulk on Thundurus. The little guy is going to be taking a few shots for the team, and that's alright. After Gengar dies to Genesect, I will have x2 speed and x2 attack, which is sweeping potential without a hard as fuck counter.
My gameplan usually involves sacrificing in order to complete a sweep. A strategy I use all the time is using Swagger on an opponents physical sweeper a few times consecutively. Once Thundurus dies, I immediately go into Ditto and clean up with those ridiculous boosts.

Hippowdon is better at taking care of Aegislash and also has recovery with slack off. You can run the SR+ whirlwind set more effectively but if you like Swampert no ones stopping you. You can also safely switch into Zard-Y w/o getting blasted by solarbeam because of sand stream.

I've been doing pretty decent with this team so far.

I just feel like Azelf isn't doing much, it can be outsped by a lot of faster sweepers and the occasional scarfed mon. Maybe I should just get rid of the life orb and replace HPfighting with substitute, but wouldn't that work better with a bulkier pokemon?

Also not entirely sure about smogondurr. I used to run prankster liepard in its place, but then I realized I value bulk over annoying factor, and I needed something with a strong priority move.

If your opponent use strong offensive pokemon like these, there are two things you can do:
1.Outspeed 'em
2.Outstall 'em.

If you choose the former option, there are plenty of fast sweepers like M-Alakazam or Talonflame, which have strong STABs and can take care of every pokemon you listed (Mawile being a case for itself I will come back to later).
Of course, if you are in dire need of speed, you can also use a choice scarf.

If you choose the latter, the only ones I can think of right now are Cresselia and Sylveon.

Getting back to Mawile, the most annoying thing about it is obviously the unrelenting sucker punch spam. To counter that you can either burn it, or you can try setting up on it (which is a bit riskier).

Use your brains kiddo, Ferrothorn is obviously a defensive pokemon, so you'll probably want to give it 252 hp EVs first of all. If you want it to be physically or specially defensive depends largely on you, it has good defense stats on both spectrums.
I would definitely invest in Spdef though since you will already be increasing your defense with curse.
Also, you might want to give it a rocky helmet since you will already be regenerating heath with rest.

And finally, I'm pretty sure Ferrothorn is not a particularly effective user of SleepTalk, but...ehh whatever, I'm not going to question you. Although I probably should.

Before you say anything, Scizor's knock off might be kind of weird (maybe pursuit might be better), but I feel I need knock off, and I prefer having foul play on my Mandy. Say what you think.

Basically Donphan has a hard time dealing with spinblockers like Aegislash and Gengar, while Excadrill can just plow through with Mold Breaker EQ. It's also got better offensive presence and more resistances.

Yeah, that's kinda it. You can always go with Thunder over T-Bolt if you feel luck, or have a rain user. Though in rain Overheat and Flamethrower will lose power, so you can go with Signal Beam.

Take out Chansey entirely. With eveything carrying Knock Off now, it's not as useful. Celebi as a cleric is better, imo.
You don't really need Roost on MegaZard, considering that you didn't really put bulk on it.

With no Thick Fat mega, Venusaur is pretty vulnerable. It has far too many weaknesses to common types for it to be reasonably useful. consider Amoonguss for spore instead of venusaur with Sleep Powder if you're looking for a similar position.

Protect on Charizard is to avoid Rock Slides and general scouting. Meowstic can be pretty trolly with T-Wave and Swagger. Yeah I do know it dies to Taunt. Lucky enough I haven't had that happen yet.

Gardevoir is probably the most expendable Pokemon on my team and it was something I was thinking about replacing. No it is not my waifu either, stop that.

Venusaur is to pair with Charizard but in most of the matches I played yesterday it was the only thing I never brought with me so maybe replacing it is a good idea.

I messed up on the EV's with Tyranitar which is why it's got those random points. I'm getting berries to wipe it the randoms though. Should I go 6 HP 252 Atk?

I lead with the Deoxys-D always, taunt if I predict they want to either set up or throw down hazards (important to predict as I have no spinner). Then I normally just suicide him throwing down rocks/spikes. If I can I will save him with a safe switch so he can be fodder later on.

Clefable deals with everyone who sets up short of aegislash carrying steel moves. In fact, if a aegislash gets a dance off I am in huge trouble, normally try to tank with Ferrothorn and chase him out with seed.

Had a mega slot and wanted a pacy sweeper. Gyarados fit the bill but I could probably swap out for something like mega pinsir, no experience using him though.

Ferrothorn is a beast, rocky helmet + iron barbs + typing means most azumarills will kill themselves trying to attack me.

Talonflame is revenge killer and wallops Zard 1 vs 1.

Aegislash is OP, so have to have him.

It's a nicely balanced tier where pretty much every archetype is good and prominent, but of which none are overpowered.

It gets flak cause BL is huge, but, as someone who's played it since its inception, every single ban was necessary*. Not just for breaking stall, but for breaking everything. Especially Hawlucha. If OU had a third as many things banned as UU, it'd be a much nicer meta.

(*except some of the stuff at the tail end of stage 0, like Houndoominite, but he's back anyway.)

I don't really think your team is particularly hazard weak either. I am just going to assume infernape is your lead, which prevents hazards quite fine with offensive presence. Go mixed with overheat and drop fake out, it's shit. So in the worst case scenario your opp gets 2layers of hazards. The only things that really get worn down by hazards are ferro (which isn't going to wall efficiently with red card anyways) and ditto (one of the worst scarfers imo). Sableye doesn't particularly enjoy switching into hazards either, but tbh it doesn't like switching into anything anyways.

You have a lot of good status absorbers on the team, and unless you added a stall oriented defogger and made gliscor a little more stally you should be able to work around status. The team looks like it is most of the way to a semi stall team though, maybe add defog mega scizor instead of infernape, more cleric oriented clefable, chansy instead of ferro, and scarf ditto to turn sweeps around.

having two pokemon with the exact same DUAL type is a really good way to #getrekt, in my opinion, so replace Mawile with another mega or another really good pokemon.

Of course, the only UU megas i know are Ampharos, houndoom, and Manectric, all of which are ground weak. Maybe a grass type, since you have Manaphy already as a water type
