I personally hate gen 3 the most, but all of your points are valid except "forgettable mons."

I would also add poor music. Only a couple of battle themes are worth listening to, the rest of the soundtrack is boring and forgettable.

I think the biggest problem is the pandering. Nintendo was trying to hard to get the old audience back into it that the main game suffered. I'm hoping for a challenge mode in the sequel, at least, really annoyed they cut that since BW challenge mode is actually kinda rough stuff.

In XY, there's literally nothing but HO as far as the eye can see with the occasional Stall here and there. I have never seen so many mirror matches since RBY and GSC. Only difference being those metas demand skill.

The 3D models were lazy. I wasn't expecting much, it being GF and all, but if you're gonna replace sprites at least polish your work.

I-I liked it.
Route 15's music alone made the soundtrack great, and I liked a lot of the battle music and the cities were all pretty good (Snowbelle and Laverre especially)
It was definitely easy, but all of the main storylines are easy as fuck, the only difference was that they made the mechanics more intuitive in this one.
Characters admittedly aren't good (Though I think we have the best professor yet).
The region was gorgeous though, it was way less linear than Unova and more fun to explore.
Also, I liked the species design a lot (Probably my favourite since gen III)

For once, OP isn't a faggot.

X/Y is easily and objectively the weakest games in the franchise. So weak that there is literally nothing that Gamefreak can do to make any future games weaker than X/Y except on purpose.

Not to mention that X/Y has irreversibly ruined Pokemon with mega evolutions and the creation of shittily designed pokemon such as Talonflame, Klefki and Slurpuff.

For a region designed by Gamefreak to be beautiful, Kalos sure has the most shitty and hideous pokemon to date.

I'd say more like a small vocal minority. It's more like everyone on the board agrees the game is flawed, but to say a VAST majority HATES the game is a pretty big allegation. And you're wrong that it's never recieved love, a lot of this gen's Pokemon were very well liked, some aspects of the game have been praised as well. I like the game, but I understand it's heavily flawed, but all Pokemon games are. And to anyone who honestly thinks X/Y is too easy, honestly, all the games are pretty fucking easy. It was all just missed chances. This game had the potential to be the best.

Ignoring the mechanics that could of still been changed I'll just focus on X and Y.

EXP share should of also been post game content. Or even a mechanic that acts like the current EXP share and give the original one early game.

Story could of been changed to better emphasize Mega Evolution. Make it a mechanic that the player wants, not just something that seemed tacked on.

All gym leaders have one, all elite four have one, Rival has one at the battle at Kiloude city.
Player doesn't get it till after that battle with the rival at Kiloude city. It becomes a desired mechanic because the gym battles and elite four difficulty should increase just a bit.

More Pokemon for the trainers.
No one but the rival and champion to my knowledge had more than four pokemon.

Story changes but I couldn't really tell you what to change. It was just shit.

Give the characters more flavor. Most of them seemed too bland aside from Malva, Looker, and Emma.

Drop some of the hand holding and allow for a little more exploration and side quests and that pretty much fixes the main problems with X and Y as a game.
The lack of endgame content would still make it lackluster but it wouldn't be anything but the usual first game not having much endgame.

In the same way HG/SS (despite the horrid level scaling) and Platinum are vastly superior to D/P, ORAS will be superior (at least I hope so) to X/Y.

Note that I have 500+ hours on my Diamond cart. At that time, it was the best game and the only Gen IV, much like X/Y is he only Gen VI.

Except the fact they did add a lot of new mechanics into X/Y (Sky battles, horde battles, Amie, a new type, mega evolution). They might not have been perfectly implemented, mind you, but that is adding some spice to the formula at least.
