I really enjoyed it - not as much as gen 5, but it's definitely far up there.
It's not flawless, of course - the main flaw is that I would have preferred for some characters to have a more involved role. The four friends, for instance, were really unbalanced - rival was great, Shauna could have done with a bit more screentime, Trevor and Tierno were drastically underused and underdeveloped - I also wanted to see more of the gym leaders, and DEFINITELY more of AZ, who was criminally underused. On the other hand, there were other characters I thought were fantastic - Shauna was sweet as pie, Sina and Dexio were really fun, Lysandre was one of the most interesting antagonists of the series, and Sycamore was probably the most involved and disturbingly attractive Professor we've seen.
I also wouldn't have minded more Kalosian Pokemon, honestly, but most of the ones we got, I really enjoyed, and I've added a lot as new favourites.
I very much like Fairy type, and this gen actually gave me the first Poison-types in existence that I both liked and used (Roserade in X, Dragalge in Y). Previously, I thought they were a bit useless.
Loved features like Pokemon-amie. Didn't use Super Training much, but I tend not to bother with EV training much - still, this is the first gen where I've been considering trying both EV training and breeding for IVs, so making it more accessible and less tiresome helps a lot too. And Wonder Trading is weirdly addictive.
I very much enjoyed the story, particularly X (the immortality aspect is fun to think about), and the post-game Looker quest was quite interesting.
Kalos is smaller than expected, but I liked the region for what we did see. A lot of the towns had a pretty cool 'flavour'.
The music was fantastic, some of my favourite pieces since I started playing Pokemon. Loved the gym leader music, Lysandre's battle theme, routes 15-17, and Laverre, Dendemille, and Anistar.
I'd say it's up there as a favourite gen.
