I prefer WiFi dubs more honestly. I've wanted to try things like Sub Terrak & Defiant Genies in the tourney but they're banned of course.

I've never really had problems with heatran though. It's not even all that popular this year either.

It will only be unavailable for GTS babbies. WFC ends May 20th, so people who don't know how to use the save backup method have until then to bring pokemon over.

Since this thread is usually really dead I thought I'd try to spark up some discussion. Here's a comparison of the usage stats of battle spot dubs for Season 3 and Season 4(so far). Lando-T, Cress, Heatran, and Thundy all rise significantly. It's been long overdue for this imo. Those are all 4 of the best mons in the meta and are tearing up right now. I think the meta is finally starting to mold.

What do you guys think of these changes or other trends in the meta? Any thoughts on things that will rise and drop in usage?

In my own testing, I was personally surprised I never ran into Cress, Heatran or the genies. For better or worse, people are wising up.

I was talking about it with a friend the other day - so many of the legendaries have a strong advantage over the staples of VGC 14, which were at the top of season three. For example - what is Garchomp going to do to Lando-T? It avoids earthquakes and intimidates you for the trouble, meaning dragon claws likely wont do over 50% if you EV correctly (assuming you're not a retard who goes 252/252 on everything and actually invests in bulk).
Thundurus threatens chomp to a lesser extent. Though it needs to be wary of rock slide, Thundy-I outspeeds and can KO with HP Ice.

Land T as a significant intimidator and Cress's presence is also probably what encouraged Bisharp to rise, since Bisharp manhandles Aegislash, Talonflame and can do big dommage with Assurance setups (eg, fast rock slide support, rocky helmet ammonguss with rage powder, etc).

Heatran is just a strong fire type, which is very important as outs to important steels like Aegislash and Mawile are always going to be relevant - it's the reason Pyroar was such a surprise anti-meta pick in VGC.

I still dont know why Greninja was ever up in in the top 12 last season though.

Anyway, I'm going to update the ladder now. I haven't had any time to watch your videos everyone, but at this stage I trust that you'll all follow the rules on your own. Please try watching your own replays to see how you could possibly improve.

Cresselia's usage is mostly for the trick rooms, am I right?

Also the thundurus that's been giving me a pain in the ass is the therian one,mostly because of it's ridiculously high sp atk, it's facility to hit and run and it's coverage moves (this thing ruins the fun on my rain team)

Some Cress run trick room but a good amount don't as well. It's just an amazing support pokemon in general with access to moves like Helping Hand and Icy Wind.

offensive noivern, let alone an offensive noivern with flamethrower on a rain team with infiltrate is generally bad. like, very bad - it loses to all the other dragons including scarf salamence. Also infiltrator is worse than frisk in doubles, and is situational since screens are bad and only aegislash runs sub. noiverns best set is superfang, tailwind, draco with frisk ability.

ggs, but you don't have anything to deal with amoonguss and heliolisk is just underwhelming under the rain.

From my experience in maison dubs, the AI usually:
1) goes for the target with the least health that it can KO or do the most damage to
2) if it has a move that is super effective, it will use it

the AI also never has hidden power and very rarely has protect on anything

Yeah, I remember reading an analysis of the Subway AI, which I assume is the same. It runs damage calculations on every move it can use against each of your Pokémon, and if any of them will KO, it will definitely use it. After that it checks for any pre-set instructions (like how some things set up before attacking), then just goes for maximising damage.

My gyara just protected from a wild charge tauros and thunderbolt ambipom (?!?). Next turn, I switched out to my manectric but the AI attacked my other pokemon or... arrgghhhh. I'll just post the replay

The AI is unpredictable. It makes a decision one turn and changes its mind on the next - by all means, a human would attack the slot of a pokemon that just protected since you're guaranteed to get damage on something, since double protects are unlikely.

The genies are as good as gen V, the weather nerf only hurt Tornadus's hurricane.
Thundy packs Prankster and even Defiant for a physical set, while Lando-T is arguably the best intimidate user.

Heatran, thanks to flash fire and a strong heat wave, is a strong response to charizard Y, as it can abuse charizard fire against it's team and maybe even recive the flash fire boost.
Charizard can only hurt Heatran with teh uncommon and unreliable Focus Blast, wich even fail to OHKO.

I'm surprise about Cress though. While she was the queen of VGC in gen V, now with the raise of powerfull ghost types aka MegaGengar and Aeglislash and Dark types like Bisharp (who even get a free Sword Dance if hit by Icy Wind) and Tyranitar.
Strong megas can even 2HKO her with neutral strong STAB attacks.

I think, unlike the genies or the Tran, Cress will drop a bit.

Bisharp has a hard time against Talonflame, as Sucker Punch is unreliable, the bird has a faster priority and set with that big fuck you called will-o-wisp are not that uncommon.

BB is NFE versus bisharp, just so you're aware. And it can dent talonberd with a neutral stab move - Assurance has become a lot more popular lately.

Talonflame won't do over 50% with brave bird (while FB is the obvious KO) and night slash/assurance will do like, 70% (which might actually be a KO after life orb recoil). this all just goes into the realms of predicting here, but talonflame isn't a sure answer to bisharp, since it needs flare blitz for the KO.
